What planet am i from>? uh sorry whoever was in charge of me as a child didn't do this therefore its new to me. How can i be punished for not knowing something i wasn't aware that i needed to know. No I walk him to school. ...and no he doesnt have to tell me everything he does. But i do wonder when schools do things and the parents dont know. What else don't we know. I agree its good to be prepared for emergencies.

Very common practice. No worries. No conspiracy here. Move along.

Just so you know, your child from this day forward will do things and be told things that you will never know about. It is called growing up.
Sorry to be blunt but it is only natural.
But I am glad to see you are a concerned parent. Way to many who are not.
Congratulations for taking care of your kids.
But, I know it is not easy so do your best.

Re: My kid told me this happened in school yesterday
He walks to school and its a neighborhood school so there are no buses that bring kids there. ( Its actually a pretty bad school we are moving so he will be out of there it was just the only choice I had at the time ) ANyway... hes in kindergarten...and he said that they put all the kids on a bus and then taught them how to escape if something bad happened. I was like huh! I never did that in any grade in school and I grew up in the same city ( Chicago) going to public schools and taking buses when I was in a magnet school. I got no notice of this. You are putting 6 year olds on a school bus and teaching them how to escape in case of a disaster even tho no kids take buses there? Sigh. So ...i gotta contact the teacher. SO glad hes out of this school in two weeks. Wtf. I at least would have liked a note or notice saying that they would be going thru these exercises or something!!

Because letting a child in kindergarten walk to school in a bad neighborhood is so much safer.

Re: My kid told me this happened in school yesterday
Maybe this warrants a thread of its own, but you made me remember something a family member went through last year in Illinois.
--
He and his wife have two sons, maybe 9 and 5/6. They go to public school in rural Illinois about 3 - 4 hours from Chicago. The parents received no notification of this happening AT ALL, but one day in school the classes were talked to by someone from Child Protective Services, something like that, along with the classroom teacher.

The students were asked various questions about whether or not their parents touch them inappropriately or do things that could signal abuse. All of these questions were asked to groups of students in their class together - not individually.

Their youngest son, a 5 year old, when asked some question about being touched inappropriately, answered that yes, his dad touched his butt and that he didn't like it. Now... what he was thinking of was completely harmless spankings or pinches to get him to go to bed. Nothing sexual, nothing inappropriate. And the kid didn't like it because they were trying to get him to go to bed.

So he described this to whoever this person was, and the dad pretty much automatically had some record of inappropriate activity, child abuse, something like that. They didn't even talk to the parents about it. I can't say that he was criminally charged with something, but it was on a record that became available to people in a background search. At the time the dad was trying to become a coach for the older son's baseball team - he couldn't do it because of this charge. He was also looking for a new job and had to withdrawl from that because of it possibly coming out in a background search. They live in a small town so word would have spread quickly.

Does this freak anyone out here? I was absolutely shocked that students could be put through this type of questioning at such a young age, and without the parent's consent. Aren't parents supposed to know EVERYTHING that goes on with their kids at a public school? On the other hand though, I get that a parent that was actually abusing their kids could keep the kids home that day, or coach them in a response.

So he's had to get a lawyer and deal with this, and i think looked into suing the school district. Not sure where it stands now. When I found out about it I was just shocked at the whole thing.

What are your thoughts on this?

The moral of the story is either pull your kids OUT of government-run indoctrination centers or teach them to tell the "agents" there NOTHING of what goes on in the home.

My hubby came home all freaked out yesterday, said a friend of his heard a story about how Moochelle is telling school kids that they must tell someone if their parents are saying racist things....idk.

I didn't see or hear the article, so not sure how accurate that is, but it sounds like 1939 Nazi Germany and the youth squads to me, if it's true.
