Activated Charcoal (You should know this) | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 49804996 United States 06/01/2014 02:36 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | After other GLPers suggested taking some for a poison this morning, and ironically my wife had some in her supplies, I took some & did some googling ... Quoting: Anonymous Coward 55605974 I know about charcoal air filtering & water filtering, most GLPers do, but after reading up on what Activated Charcoal can do, and it's long shelf life... I thought it important to share with other GLPers so they might have some on hand. Not only that but its so important to have a decent supply that you should buy it in bulk for cheap at aquarium supply stores and grind it up as needed for air or water filtration or internal use. Since it's created by fire and usually from coconut husks, it should be safe to use from its original packaging. Dont pay crazy expensive health food prices, it all comes from the same place. |

Everyone should have it on hand for emergencies. Cured my girl of a nasty case of suspected botulism in about an hour. They used it since ancient times to prevent being poisoned at feasts. They used to poison the wine to get rid of their competitors. They used to put pieces of toasted (busnt) bread in the cups of wine to neutralize the poison. That's from where comes the custom to "make a toast" at a feast. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 55614808 United States 06/01/2014 07:52 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I once "poisoned" my cat by putting a cheap, CHINESE brand flea solution on him (I put it on both cats, but he licked it off the other one). Found him 2 days later, all swollen mouth, and drooling out of side of his mouth....could barely breathe. Took him the vet, and they told me he was HIV positive and I should just "put him down now before he gets worse." That wasn't MY solution, so I took him home and began researching. I realized I had put something on him that he had ingested it (after I thought about what had transpired for the past few days, and what he could have possibly gotten into). When I realized it was the FLEA POISON, I research the brand, found out it was ONE MOLECULE DIFFERENCE from Frontline (or one of the better-known brands, but was MANUFACTURED IN CHINA), so that ONE MOLECULE was the difference of it working on the fleas or the animal, or being toxic, and it had literally POISONED HIM. So I continued researching a cure, and found out activated charcoal would absorb it out of his system. It worked and 8 years later, he's still with us!!! I LOVE THE STUFF, and wouldn't be without it in my house. |
