These girls were operating under the delusion that the Slenderman was real and that he lived in a mansion in the nearby National Forest. They believed that by killing their friend they would become a proxy for the Slenderman... they read in a short story a kill is required to join the Slenderman, as a test of loyalty. I am not excusing these girls, but clearly they were letting their imaginations run wild and were totally outside the realm of logic and reality. They need psychological services in the worst possible way.
