Boy there sure are a lot of photos for a flower that hasn't been seen in 3,000 years. That's because it's the Ficus racemosa plant. It bears fruit and is a staple food in India and other parts of Asia. Plants flower before bearing fruit. Where's the science here? [link to en.wikipedia.org] |

According to legend, this flower blossoms once every 3,000 years. This is the first North American sighting after they were spotted in Korea, Australia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. "Udumbara is the product of ominous and supernatural phenomena; it is a celestial flower and does not exist in the mundane world. If a Tathagata or King of the Golden Wheel appears in the human world, this flower will manifest due to their great virtue and blessings." "King of the Golden Wheel appears in the human world" is interpreted as "Holy King Who Turns the Wheel, rectifying the Dharma in the world, for which the appearance of Udumbara blossoms is a sign." According to Buddhist scriptures, like a Buddha, the Holy King Who Turns the Wheel has 32 manifestations and seven treasures. He is an ideal king who turns the Wheel that rectifies the Dharma, not through force but through justice in order to rule the world. Regardless of one's religious affiliation--Buddhism, Christianity or Confucianism--anyone who offers compassion to people will have the opportunity to meet the Holy King Who Turns the Wheel. The Prajna Paramita (or The Great Perfection of Wisdom) Sutra says, "One cannot always keep the human body; wealth is but a dream; when nothing is lacking, it is difficult to persist in a righteous belief. When a Tathagata talks of the profound and wonderful Dharma, isn't it as precious and rare as the Udumbara?" [link to en.minghui.org] "Tathagata" simply means, "The coming of the truth". If the Creator chooses to bloom these flowers as an advance warning of the coming of the truth to non-Christians, that is most Holy. No parent wishes to punish their children. They wish to teach, and to have their hard-learned lessons heard. And when children are reckless to their own welfare, you occasionally kick them in the ass, only to save them. God is so much bigger than any human can begin to imagine. It is like the metaphor of the three blind men feeling an elephant and describing it to each other; one feels the ears, another feels the tail and the third feels the thick legs. None of their descriptions agree, because they are all describing different sections of a much larger animal. If an elephant can flummox three blind men, how much more can the Creator of time and space and BEING flummox 7 billion blind humans, even if they touch and describe everything on this planet...because all the universe is so much larger than just this description of being? For this reason I hate "knowing" statements about our Creator. We know NOTHING, except what we have been told. Even then. we STILL fight about it. So much lost blood, draining life away with each pulse. I dream about this. I have felt it in my sleep. I awake, desperate to live, not as myself, but as other lives. I know it is just a dream, but it still saddens me, because it does reflect real lives lost through time, their blood spilled into the uncaring sands. |

Yes it is fascinating a clue I am also looking for more information. Quoting: AKObserver Truly a goose bump moment :) Why would a flower that no one has ever seen that aledgedly blooms only every 3000 years and is not even of this planet give you goose bumps ? And people call Christians crazy ! Not to mention the fact that it has been "blooming" in N. Korea since 1997. It isn't what these folks make it out to be. It doesn't "bloom'", it's an insect egg and it's been "blooming" constantly, not just every 3000 years, LOL! Some folks are desperate enough to believe anything. |

Where are the three thousand year old scriptures that document this flower?? If it's not been seen in three thousand years, then how does anyone know what it looks like without a drawing or something?? |

The flower of this kind of fig tree blooms inside of the fruit which is why it is rare to see the blooms outside, but it is a rare occurrence not an occurrence that only happens once in 3k years. I always thought that this fruit, because of its unusual bloom and it's parasitic nature as a plant, was used to teach conceptual ideas in Buddhism and not herald events. Yup, bug eggs for sure. Don't remember what kind exactly, but have seen them lots of times in cousins' vineyard. Spray a little neem oil and say bye-bye to your so-called "flower". |

Flower Said to Bloom Once in 3,000 Years Spotted Across Globe Quoting: AKObserver The udumbara flower is said in Buddhist legend to bloom only once every 3,000 years, the last time being before the birth of Buddha. Spotted again across the world in the past 20 years or so, some say the udumbara could herald the coming of a great sage or enlightened being. Udumbara is a word from the ancient Indian language, Sanskrit, meaning “an auspicious flower from heaven.” According to Buddhist legend, its appearance heralds the arrival of the Holy King Who Turns the Wheel, rectifying the Dharma in the world. This King is said to accept anyone of any religious affiliation, offering salvation to all through compassion. Volume 8 of the Buddhist scripture “Huilin Phonetics and Interpretation” states: “The udumbara flower is the product of propitious and supernatural phenomena; it is a celestial flower and does not exist in the mundane world. If a Tathagata or the King of the Golden Wheel appears in the human world, this flower will appear due to his great virtue and blessings.” [link to m.theepochtimes.com] indeed the wheel was turned |

I'm surprised the Chinese haven't picked up on the Nostradamus prophecy about July 1999, the same month and year that the persecution of Falun Gong started. This is a direct connection to the 3000 year prophecy of the Udumbara Flower. Falun Gong or Falun Dafa literally means "Dharma Wheel Practice" or "Law Wheel Practice." The Hopi also prophesied Falun Gong, by describing their symbol in their prophecies, the crooked cross, which looks like a Nazi swastika, but it isn't. The Hopi described the Falun Gong practitioners as their friends. At some point people will wake up to all of this. |
