Chicken that taste like fish/crab? Something weird going on.

This is why I raise and process my own chickens.

I hope to do that one day, but right now I live in a condo in a big city so not feasible.

Laying hens get fed (amongst others) fish bone-meal because of its high protein content. Sometimes that fishy smell will come through in the egg smell.
Perhaps the broilers raised for eating were fed a similar mix?
Either way, eating store-bought meat is inviting all the crap they inject them with into your body...steroids, growth hormones, antibiotics, etc. *pukes*

Perhaps you accidentally received alligator meat. It has the texture of chicken with a seafood taste. And even if I'm wrong, you should go buy some now, it's delicious.

Snake isn't that bad either..

Tell us about the operation, cost to feed up to harvest, facility, such as that.

Yep you are right about the fish meal and the taste from it.

OMG, they are feeding our interior land food, chickens, with BP carbon destroying compounds that is destroying all life in the ocean,

They are not content that these are our land food and that many won't eat the fish, they're making sure you eat the FISH.

Could it have been some weird genetically modified chicken?

And we have a batch of organic sliced turkey breast meat from the deli for sandwhiches, and it tasked liked smoked salmon.

Ever taste onion milk? Every Spring when the fresh sweet onion shoots sprout, the cows go nuts over them and the milk ends up with a strong onion flavor...most people hate it

I wouldn't get it past my lips if it smelled of onion.

I'd say it's the fish-meal as well.

And then there are the fish grown on fish farms in china- wire grating is placed over the fish tanks and chickens walk around on that- the fish eat what the chickens poop out.

Who the hell would want TP or trash bags to smell like anything? All you do with them is throw them away...well, maybe some people don't

you asked about raising chickens ...

as three day old peepers, you can get them for less than two bucks a piece ... you need a big box, a red heat lamp ($15 for both) and a bag of "starter" feed (for "meat birds) $15 ... in about two weeks you can switch out to a fifty pound sack of "meat bird feed" that will give them all the nutrients they need to grow really fast ... a dozen chicks will prob take a month to eat that bag - $15 per bag - six months

once they are fully feathered (two - three months) and big enough that the kats won't kill them, you can put them outside and let them scratch for a living ...but you will need to continue feeding them "crumbles" - just not as much

when they are fully grown, - six to eight months you "process them"

so this is a high "ball-park" figure ...
$24 for the chicks (a dozen)
$15x6mos for feed = $90
(plus 15 for the lamp and bulb -first time)

makes a four to five pound organic chicken cost about Ten bucks by the time it gets to your table ...

if you shop on line - an organic chicken cost $25 + SH - I don't believe that they sell them in the grocery store - even with the stamp - anything mass produced gets "medicated feed" guaranteed

and that's what you will pay for a "laying hen" on craig's list - that will lay an egg a day - for seven years ...

rabbits are even cheaper, because you can feed them grass - and they reproduce like mad ... I just put a dozen of them in my freezer today ... cost me less than chicken - get more protein for your money ... kids will never know the difference if you tell them it is chicken ... got one roasting on the Barbie now ... yum
