*He Identified himself as "911" then went back into the store.

*After being tasered he continued to resist arrest.

*He was checked out by paramedics AND taken to the hospital. (obviously not injured because he was not admitted to the hospital)

*He attempted to steal a cash box before being asked to leave.

*He entered the hair salon after being asked to leave and employees were in fear for their safety and locked themselves behind a gate.

*After walking out of the store he went back in and STATED HE HAD A BOMB.

*He called 911 himself and accused the operator of stealing his truck while he stood next to it the whole time.

*When the police arrived he attempted to take the officers knife THREE times while the officer was questioning him trying to find out what happened. (this alone could have gotten him shot)

*He refused to listen to the officer and attempted to leave several times.

*He jumped into the bed of a moving pickup truck and refused to listen to officers. He attempted to get back in a SECOND time before it drove away.

*When a second officer arrived he ran away back into the walmart.

He was clearly NOT listening to ANYONE and was definitely NOT in control by the officers or he would have been in cuffs in the back of a car. Why can't you place the blame where it belongs? Not all police are out to beat the fuck out of people. This man was clearly either not sober or sane. Either way he was posing a threat to bystanders, the officers, and probably himself.

Yes I have punched a person before not that it matters, but it was in a similar situation (druggy outside a shop). I'm not a policeman and I only had to hit him once.

In the UK our police would have restrained using baton assisted arm locks and some handcuffs. We wouldn't turn into a fucking school yard brawl.

Sorry but it looked to me like the guy could've allowed himself to be cuffed but he didn't. The cop used just the force he needed to get the cuffs on him. Not excessive. Should he have tased him instead? think the cops put up with waaay too much shit from low life's and criminals.

Those officers were reacting to a situation. The idiot decided to escalate the situation by not listening and resisting the police. He risked his own safety by doing this. Yes they can and will do this. If you don't like that, then stop fucking resisting!

There is no excuse for the policeman punching him in the face like that. There just isn't any. We all have rights. This man, though he had probably done something wrong, has the right to not be brutalized. This has to stop!

To elucidate: was the cop using three knuckles? two? what was the surface area that the force was applied to. It doesn't take much to damage the brain and that first punch was pretty decent and at an dangerous location. More importantly it was at a point when the suspect was under control.

I gave you a little bit of info about me before after yet another ad hominem attack, I'll give you a little more. My father was a policeman in the Met. Breaking the law that you have sworn to protect is not the best way to go about it.

This shows it's not a black or white problem. It's a police problem. Even a black person was trying to help the poor white guy. The blacks in st.louis should riot the police stations. Not the local shops.

Did you see the video? The two cops had the guy down on the floor pretty much immobile, they appeared to be having a problem handcuffing him but the MMA cage fighter cop started popping off about 10 swings to the back of the guys neck and side of his head. Even as a fighting tactic, such isn't very effective!

While I can't say who I work for, but I handle the physical process of delivering video evidence when requested for legal processes and while I'm not directly involved in law enforcement as a police officer I have seen many recorded sessions of officers arresting a resisting subject and this is the first time I have seen an official using fist throws in that way to detain a subject. Regardless of the suspect, their crimes or undisputed idea they are a thug, there is no reason or need for what this officer did.

Yes, in conversations with officers I have heard them project their frustration in wanting to whip a subject's butt however their discipline and restraint should be such that they don't resort to such unnecessary tactics. That is what is suppose to set them above the uncivilized actions of the thugs when they are forced to deal with as you see in this video, then once in awhile you find one that loses control going off the deep end. Crap like this is why a large part of black community believe without doubt that a police officer gunned down Michael Brown in cold blood.

There needs to be some type of new program for police officers that allows a effective way for them to handle the low life crud of our society without such affecting their actions, when a person deals with the life styles of criminals daily, it starts rub off including the whole other issue of them being in a higher position of power does effect some of them in a bad way too.

Personally my feelings are that we need twice as many police officers, not necessarily to put more on the street but to give them short duty rosters (say 3-4 days a week), keep rotating shifts so they don't get set in working a particular time or "beat" basically more cops working shorter periods so they don't develop bad habits such as getting pissed off and beating a suspect.

You haul out the trash to the curb on trash day, you know sometimes you are going to get your hands dirty from the filth as no matter how careful you are, it rubs off by accident and you don't know it until you get to work and a coworkers asks you what that streak of dirt is on you.
