Because there isn't any 100% secure way to deal with patients with ebola or any other infectious disease.

Exactly. It doesn't need to be airborne. The medical response is way behind the event. This virus is incredible at shedding into the environment. The medical professionals have to be perfectly vigilant, always, while suffering exhaustion, heat and despair for an apparently unending disaster. One fuck up and you're soup.

It's stated to us it's very hard to contract it except through bodily fluids. What are they doing to catch it drinking it!
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 52038716

breathing it ! its airborne and also morphogeneticaly activated if passive in body by proximity to infected person

it is activated by sick person transmitting equivalent of a RADIO signal if i am right we are screwd as we may have the virus within us already awaiting for activation by proximity.

One method to block signal in body vitamin C 1 gram ...daily

Air , Listerine diluted 5 parts distilled water 1 part Listerine use with nose sprayer in case of being in insecure place , this works also for deadly strains of flu ...
as Listerine shields mucosa membrane from virus entry .

green works the best as stated by many American Indians that have used it for years & never suffer flu ..

Re: How Are Doctors And Health Workers Catching Ebola
What the hell is "nano" synthetic and how does it differ from the regular synthetic?

Is this like folger's crystals?

"We've replaced the ebola virus with a nano synthetic virus, let's see if anyone notices..."

*I'M SHITTING OUT MY OWN SPLEEN!*

"You heard it here folks..."
 Quoting: Bob

the green monkey virus is used to make the morgellons weapon. pretty sure it's used in the ebola one as well, so it's not a stretch to think the thing has been nano-sized.

You're right, OP, their story doesn't seem to add up. Perhaps they're trying to prevent a public panic, but it seems fairly obvious that it spreads more easily than they let on.

bodily fluids can go airborne, micrscopic saliva and blood particles, and in an environment which is kept at an ideal temperature that allows these virus in the particles to survive their interstellar flight to its next host.

Asking why Doctors are catching it is a little like saying 'how are cooks getting custard in their hair'

I dont know how Brantly and the nurse got it but the African medical staff probably got it because they're a bunch of 90 IQ idiots that didnt actually follow the protocol.

Add to that - Protective equipment (gloves, masks, gowns) is in short supply at the clinics and paraprofessionals are poorly trained in infection control.

That puts everyone, including the trained doctors, at risk for contamination.

Re: How Are Doctors And Health Workers Catching Ebola
Having had particles passing safety glasses and suffering resulting eye injury, let me tell you safety glasses are helpful but not perfect. In one case the middle of the frames had a small gap and the red hot zinger flew right past and I was able to see it incoming. A tiny hole, really, but enough.

Same with the african Ebola nurses, I saw with dismay pictures showing that they were not really covering every bit of face, possible route#1.

#2 is the spray down tent, between the hot zone and the outside world. These had garden variety sprayers, not even really good ones, used to cover the outer layer of kevlar suit with bleach spray. They looked too high pressure and too direct a spray, which could easily drive the hot stuff into the air without destroying them. One really needs a high quality sprayer, like the Hudson which is a trombone type, not pump up. Delivers a user controlled, possibly attained much less pressurized stream and the high quality nozzle can be set to deliver absolute fog which has the droplets so small they lack velocity that would knock stuff off the cloth and into the air.

One of those modern misters that use a vibrating micro-pan will be even better. Just fog the chamber by turning on, no attendant required.

I'd bet the second is the one.So this virus might not be exactly airborne just made to be by incorrect application of technology.

New counts of dead medical staff up to 120...if it was not airborne in the last 40 years, then it must have mutated. And now we have a new strain announced today that has killed 13. WTF!!! We better be paying close attention...CDC just announced 68 tested negative in 27 states. If any of these were positive, I doubt there would have been an announcement. I hope we have some medical whistle blowers to let us know when the SHTF(SHEET HITS THE FAN). OH...then comes the panic...riots...national martial law....OK, never mind. best get n95 masks now before they are gone...and hope they work.

Re: How Are Doctors And Health Workers Catching Ebola
GET REAL!
When is it over?
Ebola will be declared over in a country if two incubation periods, or 42 days in total, have passed without any confirmed case, she said. Nigeria is the fourth country with known cases.

What is actually ironic is that back in 2009/2010, CDC recommended "respiratory protection that is at least as protective as a fit-tested disposable N95 respirator for healthcare personnel who are in close contact with patients with suspected or confirmed 2009 H1N1 influenza." Yet now, CDC does not recommend N95s in most clinical situations for Ebola. And if you're keeping score, in 2009 CDC wanted "higher-level" protection and hospital epidemiologists wanted "lower-level", while in 2014 most hospital epidemiologists are implementing policies that extend way beyond CDCs recommendations.

How long does Ebola virus persist in indoor environments?
Only one laboratory study, which was done under environmental conditions that favor virus persistence, has been reported. This study found that under these ideal conditions Ebola virus could remain active for up to six days. In a follow up study, Ebola virus was found, relative to other enveloped viruses, to be quite sensitive to inactivation by ultraviolet light and drying; yet sub-populations did persist in organic debris.

The role of the environment in transmission has not been established. Limited laboratory studies under favorable conditions indicate that Ebola virus can remain viable on solid surfaces, with concentrations falling slowly over several days...

Re: How Are Doctors And Health Workers Catching Ebola
Real genius think tank on this thread.

If it was airborne, it'd be have 20 million infected by now like the airborne flu in the US.
