If you stick to a schedule, you can basically eat whatever you want.

there are plenty of other effective workouts you can do in 30min. or less and get the same, or better, results.

and even if you think you can "eat whatever you want..."
it's a personal trainer adage that: you can't outrun your diet.
eventually it will catch up with you, in one way or another.

just because you keep your fat down your insides still suffer from the food you eat. :/

and imagine how amazing you'd look (and feel) if you ate healthy on top of all that exercise!

many of the marathon running trainers i know are often injured, which means less exercise. Plus, they look sickly with absolutely zero muscle tone. :(
but again, they're always injured and sore.

I think running is great if it's your passion, but for most people a good cardio circuit and a little weight training goes much further.

True. Walking is far better for you. This kind of impact will catch up with you and will end up in Urgent Care or nursing a bad knee for the rest of your life, physical therapy etc. We all gonna die sometime, running will make no difference.

i like a bicycle. it does not hurt my knees as bad as running does. i like standing when pedaling uphill and into the wind. plus on the downhills you get to take a breather before the next climb. too old for running now. still like walking though.

swimming is my fav though and treading water and walking in water. my water workout can be pretty intense when i am up to it.

It's a fact that running is hard on the body, sorry to burst your bubble. As I said, if it's your passion, then it's worth the risks. But if you're just trying to get fit and be in "good shape" there are more safe and effective ways....that are not necessarily "easier"
Try body building, it's not easy. It takes a lot of dedication and most people have a difficult time lifting as much weight as I can at 5' and 110 lbs. If we worked out together I cannot imagine you would use the word "easier" in regards to my workouts!! :P

I rode my bike instead today, Jogging, I feel it too much in the knees the next day, which was enough for me, hour ride on mountain roads is enough to crush you, I came home and crashed for three hours I was so tired. maybe only 6 miles, but in the mountains, it is a different ballgame.

Get a bike, smoother motion and all the cardio an muscle action you should need when combined with hiking and calisthenics,,, muscle memory trick and low impact.

Running is not bad for the heart. Exercise strengthens the heart as long as you don't exceed your body's ability to repair, and 40 minutes is well within a doable range for most people. I have been jogging for over 10 years now.

Im gonna bust out my aggressive skates I bought, when I must of been having a midlife crisis. Im gonna where a hood, so I look twenty something. Im gonna get a Universal brake because the powerblade wheels and frames are just way too intense! They already gave me a Mortons Neuroma. Doing cardio exercises greater than 30 to 60 second BURSTS will AGE YOU FASTER and increase stressor hormones such as cortisol due to the stress on the body. High impact aerobics and long term running are bad for you, better to do BURST exercise as this releases GROWTH HORMONE ( keeps you young).
