The venom made the cup of blood look like a peace of cow's liver.

In the video it clots the blood, not thins it.. There must be venoms from other snakes that act in reverse.

And stupid me, in Costa Rica, I stood 4 feet from a huge, sleeping Pit Viper to takie his picture. And no anti venom in the entire country at that time. I thought he was fake. Whoops! Not certain what the babies are capable of, but the were hanging from the trees above our heads everywhere.

I think I was more concerned with being tied up (demonstration) in Panama by our machine gun carrying tour guide. Not on my life... LOL... They have a weird way of entertainment. LOL... Now that was some vacation... One moment watching a huge alligator, the next swimming in 80 feet of water in the Panama Canal (and not too far from the alligator).

Overall that was the best vacation of my life! Although my husband insists that a Kuna indian was trying to sell me a package deal with her kid and a kitten. Duno.... You know they still lived in grass shacks back then. I paid some dude to help me find the bathroom, and he went into the bathroom tour business after that.. LOL... BTW, to get to the bathroom you had to walk a thin long plank over the ocean. Once inside you could look hundreds of feet down to the ocean. So why did I bother? LOL...

The high blood pressure medication ramipril (ACE- i) was derived from viper venom. The interesting thing about viper venom is that it is full of novel molecular structures that have a variety of effects on human beings. Isolating these novel molecules and then using them to do things like lower blood pressure through vaso-dialation is a unique use of viper venom. I think it is pretty cool to know that death can be fought via it's own arsenal.

Snakes only produce enough venom to kill prey designed for them to eat. If one bites a human, the human won't die quickly because humans are too large, and are not a snakes natural meal. they will die from the side effects caused by the venom, such as necrotising diseases.
