But since they can't afford to have a referendum (with which I tend to concur - referendums have no legitimate role in a properly functioning representative democracy), they're inching us slowly so deep into NATO that they can dismiss all opposition by saying that joining is just a trivial formality - well worth of getting the full benefits of the deal. It's a sales pitch like "Ok, you've already agreed to buy this used car, so why don't you throw in a measly 400 € extra for a brand new set of winter tires?"

US/NATO strategy to attack on Russian soil is to launch long range missiles from Finland on st.petersburg and then move troups set in the Baltics into Russia.
