REALITY, n.
The dream of a mad philosopher. That which would remain in the cupel if one should assay a phantom. The nucleus of a vacuum.

Sure, I could fill my post with useless words, or I could construct a sleek missile that would tug on your heart strings. I just find potatos really trippy. It's easy to see the fractal patterns on them.

You have promise, WOLF! It does not exist, until it takes hold in the mind (sun) , first!

Re: Reality is trying to remind us that it's not real
We are merely nothing more than bacteria on a rock. We've now hit an evolutionary pinnacle, the internet is allowing us to evolve into a single combined species working together, much like bacteria combined and evolved over time into larger animals.

We (all human knowledge) will give rise to technology that will become self aware by 2045. The technology will basically turn the evolutionary dial to warp speed, quickly building upon itself, faster and faster. It will become so smart that it will eventually, know everything (quantum computing).

Over the course of forever, until the heat death of the universe, the consciousness will have completed it's goal of understanding itself. Although... there is one thing the universe won't know or understand; death.

Out of maddening curiosity, it will hit the reset button, and the big bang begins anew.

Synchronicities were the first thing that came to mind when I read your thread title.... Those coincidences that seem to defy statistical probability...

I've been being overly bombarded by this recently. And like you say, it's not me recognizing patterns in new ideas, it is the sheer fact that these 'random' occurrences that I am 'noticing' are just so in-your-face and HIGHLY improbable. Much like you mentioning this on the 2nd thread i read tonight and was about to sign off...

The synchronicities never stop. Sure, sometimes they manifest as something big and in your face, but really, it never ends.

one could place his or her self in a bigger picture, but does that define the whole thing, and who is defining? how would you delimite yourself?

How can you delimit yourself if there is no definition of a self? Where my every thought or action is in response to every stimulus I encounter, am I not a combination of those stimuli and the response, and so there is no difference between my self and the source of the stimuli?

indeed. this entire reality, as far as we are able to perceive (with or without instruments), is one big thick electromagic frequency soup.

but in that soup, things get structured.

how would you define self-awareness in that context?

if all is one, would that make reality a boring static thing? variance, motion, is needed - but individuality is nonexistant.

but as a species that is severly limited in perception, we like to fool ourselves into believing us as separate.

no. uniformity is a result of structuring. if structuring has no final end, does this mean there is an absolute entropic component involved, or that there is no limit to perfection?

if you could define a reality as an absolute, it would be confined. hence, if if we speak of the all-encompassing reality, we shouldn't set any boundaries.

Re: Reality is trying to remind us that it's not real
Zoom the fractal!

At this moment humanity is in schizo mode, stuck in a cycle of looking for solutions for problems it created, building jails inside jails to escape every single of element of uncertainty that is presented with. But we are not getting better at survival, we are just restricting our space so nothing can go wrong.

Humanity fantasises of problems, materialises them and then labels them reality... and there is no breaking point because they do not accept that they are indulging on fantasies to begin with so they feel entitled to enforce what they label as reality.

And when we finally achieve immortality and invulnerability by transferring our memories and mind in a CPU, we'll finally be able to stare at the ceiling from the webcam, watch virtual porn and play MMO's all day with other non-transient minds. And those simulations will get so advanced and realistic that we'll be creating entire universes in our mind and play the characters like puppets!

Vanitas vanitatum et omnia vanitas.
