But the negative connotations with the name were just too much — Microsoft is finally giving up on IE. Quoting: MadBob Many Windows users associate Internet Explorer with terrible performance and badly rendered websites, but that hasn’t actually been the case for a long time. The most recent iterations of the browser have worked well enough, yet the legacy of the monstrosity that was Internet Explorer 6 loomed large over them. Even Microsoft took shots at the browser in ads for later versions, but that wasn’t enough to remove the stigma. [link to www.foxnews.com] What do you use? I use Opera 12.17 or PaleMoon Project Spartan and Windows 10 it's a 100% trojan... |

I guess they figured they'd drop out and let chrome (google) do the internet spying. In another 10 years you will see MS OS usage use decline at a rate similar to this. After windows 8 the trend is noticeably accelerating, and by windows 10 look out. It looks to me that in 5 years you'll have MAC + Linux + mobiles at 40%-50% share. OUCH! It looks like MS is in a death spiral. |

There business model is not the future and with their demise we would have the push needed to get us in a better development position. IMHO open source is where it is at. Collective minds put together create the most awesome things and I have no problem whatsoever showing my gratitude in support and donations to the ones who make it happen and who maintain the transparency at a level you can only get when things are open sourced. |

But we web developers fear they will just rename the "thing".
