I'm originally from the Southeast US, and with insurance policies, one often has to take additional insurance for "named storms" since they are associated with hurricanes and such... Moved to the Midwest US a few years back where not too many named storms hit...however that is until they started naming snow storms and other types of weather. Since they named these storms, some insurance companies wouldn't pay out to home and car owners since the snow storm of last year that hit us was named. Just a heads up. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 70599554 i'm sure they did the same in the States you just watch them inserting a little paragraph into our policies now, saying we're not covered if a NAMED storm causes damage to our properties. imo - yeah it's pretty scammy, but there were some big name insurance companies that did this. A lot of people couldn't collect from their policies. Watch out in the future for that added paragraph. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 23514022 United Kingdom 10/20/2015 02:41 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Just heard a report that any storm's predicted to be dangerous /damaging to the UK will now be named. So as to make people more aware and prepared! Quoting: MsMc Apparently there has been a competition since September for names to be put forward... From the link...less than 50% Derrick Ryall, head of the public weather service at the Met Office, said at the time the name search was announced in September: "We have seen how naming storms elsewhere in the world raises awareness of severe weather before it strikes. "We hope that naming storms in line with the official severe weather warnings here will do the same and ensure everyone can keep themselves, their property and businesses safe and protected at times of severe weather." Link... [link to www.bbc.co.uk] Expecting some big storms then! Xx well since storms cause damage and havoc then they should be rightfully named after politicians as they cause more damage and havoc in people's daily life then any storm could do |
