Quoting: Berf Snurple Which one? If you can find a gun retailer with an indoor range, you would have an opportunity to consult with the sales people as well to test or practice on the range. It may well be worth taking a bit of a drive to get to such a place if you must. Smith and Wesson Airweight pistols are nice. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 69482753 United States 12/08/2015 07:31 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | How much of a shooter is your wife? Any light weight gun is going to be hard to shoot for a newbie. Take her to a range that rents guns. what she likes and what will work may be two different guns. Quoting: indiandave What ever she decides on, get her to the range for practice. ^^^^THIS^^^^ There is no standard. It depends on the person. Hand size, strength, experience, where and how it will be carried... all make a difference. Pay no attention to the ignorant responder above who said Ruger sucks - there are good and bad in ALL of them, you just have to find the right one for YOU which is the most important thing. If you or your wife aren't fully comfortable with your piece - you are dangerous. Just remember to get one that feels right in your hand, and practice with it a LOT. But no matter how comfortable you get with it, always respect it or you'll end up in trouble when you need it the most. Good luck..... |

You can't leave one safely in the chamber with the LCP. I have a Kel-Tec PF9. It is small, and nice, but with any small framed firearm, you're not going to hit targets far away with it. Giving in to the demands of "society" (read liberal douche bags) are part of the problem. If everyone stopped giving into their "pussified" demands we'd be a lot better off. I carry on my hip often..... if more of you would do it, it could become the accepted standard rather than the exception. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 70945109 United States 12/08/2015 07:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I'm looking at one of three pistols for a first CC weapon for my wife & myself. Would either of these be a good choice, or? Both of us have little experience shooting a pistol. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 8412858 Ruger LCP - smallest & lightest, 9.6oz, 6+1 380 Ruger LR9s - slightly larger, has trigger safety 17.2oz, 7+1 9mm Ruger SR9C - biggest, heaviest, 3-dot sight, 23.4oz, 17+1 9mm Which one would be best suited for each of us?I will most likely add a laser guard to each pistol BTW. Thanks for the help... Ohh... So NOW you want a firearm. But you are still referring to logical and reasonable Americans as "guntards"? I hope you accidentally shoot yourself. |

triggerPull User ID: 70991307 United States 12/08/2015 07:58 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I agree on getting a revolver. Go for a 22 mag 9 shot. Forget the laser you need to draw and fire, point shoot. Woman are natural point shooters, just tell her to point and pull the trigger. Both of you should go to some sort of gun safety and firing line taining. Here the sheriff gives training every month at their shooting range. Practice 3 center mass then 2 head shots. The 22 mag will kill a coyote at 100 yards. Get a 22 mag rifle to go along with it for hunting. Practice, go shooting, go hunting and pratice some more. After the judgement is made to pull it fire it with deadly intent. |

It is small, and nice, but with any small framed firearm, you're not going to hit targets far away with it. Agreed on the LCP. Take a look at the Kahr CW380. Just like the more expensive Kahr P380 but without a match grade barrel, a second magazine, and a little less finish. The Kahr P380 is a spendy critter, but the Kahr CW380 (exact same design) is a very reasonable price, with the exact same functionality of the more expensive p380. And besides, who needs a "match grade barrel" on a .380? And the CW380 only weighs 10 ounces. You can fit them in an I-phone style belt holster. That way, you can carry openly but still be concealed. It looks just like an I-phone pouch. Sneaky Pete makes one, but the much cheaper one that I have is the Bulldog. Right here: [link to www.amazon.com] |

The biggest difference is the amount of muzzle flash. But in a rifle barrel, the .22 mag really shines over the .22 LR. |

I have an LCP and keep it in my pocket. This is the only reason for this gun. If for your wife or any lady to keep in purse, etc, I would recommend a .38 revolver. Safe and simple. |

User ID: 70676378 United States 12/08/2015 08:27 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My wife loves her Ruger SR9C because it has an indicator to let you know when there is a round in the chamber, the added trigger safety and she says the action on hers is easier than the action on the Sig Sauer 9mm she tested with in her CCW gun safety class. I'm looking at a S&W .40 caliber, myself.
