UPDATE:

Christian County Sheriffs Office found these inserted in the roadway today between Nixa and Highlandville. These are large files that have been turned into road spikes, then hammered into the roadway pavement. They were inserted with length in conjunction with traffic direction, so visibility is slim.
The first set was located on Aspen between White Ash and Harris. Another set was located on Aspen just south of Green Ash. Be careful driving and pay attention to the road. That goes for the citizens of Christian County, and area law enforcement. It is a mystery at this point as to motive of the individual(s) who did this.
If you have any information on any suspicious vehicles or people possibly involved in this or any other area, message or call the Christian County Sheriffs Office.

UPDATE:

The story is being spun that the 'deer cam' fellow is actually a polish immigrant that has mental issues. We are being told that the man, without being seen by others, hiked across more rugged land from approximately Knob Lick, MO to Potosi, MO where he was spotted by local authorities, questioned and released. All during the same time that the Internet was buzzing with this story and causing local commotion. Rather then contacting the folks and asking if they wanted to press charges for Trespass, a Class B Misdemeanor, same as drunk driving.

There was scuttlebutt about the fellow, that was released, not matching the description.

Fredericktown 'mystery man' identified

"Then when it was learned around the same time that a deer camera in rural Fredericktown in Madison County had captured the photo of a man many thought might be of Middle Eastern descent and who came running at a Fredericktown landowner who was trying to learn his identity, their uneasiness turned into fear.

Comments on Facebook in recent days had centered on how the unidentified man might be a terrorist, perhaps even a member of ISIL. Some were certain he was in some way connected with the bulk cell phone buys." ...

...“I actually saw him Saturday while I was off duty and he was walking down the highway,” Jacobson said. “I contacted one of the deputies and they looked for him but couldn’t find him. The city police had actually talked to him earlier in the week, but then one of our deputies found him by Washington State Park on [Highway] 21. He contacted the Chicago Police Department and they said he had walked away from a homeless shelter about a month before they entered him missing.”

Jacobson said Chicago police explained that the man reportedly suffers from schizophrenia.

“They said he wasn’t dangerous, he wasn’t wanted for anything — he was just missing,” Jacobson said. “He’s an adult. He can walk away anytime he wants. We don’t suspect anything with him. He didn’t cause any problems and didn’t seem to have any kind of issues going on. He was very respectful and polite with the police. He had no warrants and no weapons on him or anything. Well a 'local blogger' cleared up the issue of which way the 'local' paper slants ...

ARE ‘LOCAL’ NEWSPAPERS A ‘TRUSTED’ SOURCE OF INFORMATION?

Earlier this year, it came to my attention that our ‘local’ newspaper, is not the ‘local community‘ newspaper that it once was.

In trying to understand the new ‘slant’ of the news of our local paper, the Daily Journal: [link to dailyjournalonline.com] I found this disturbing information.

Buffett’s purchase of Lee.net was on the ‘down low‘ regarding his acquisition , however after SEC pressed Buffett, the story was released by Forbes in 2012:

Now compile matters, several sightings of Chinook helicopters have been seen over this region, which I have personally witnessed, flying low and in search patterns.

Explosives in Mark Twain National Forest created 2 large craters

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. -
Pulaski County sheriff's department investigators are trying to find who left explosives in the Mark Twain National Forest. A hunter found them early Saturday.
The hunter is an Army combat engineer from Fort Leonard Wood. He recognized his discovery as explosives and immediately reported it to the sheriff's department.

"The first shock went off just like ba-boom! Rocked my house. And then about another 15 seconds later baboom! It was even worse than the first one, rattled the windows and stuff in my house," said Eugene Davis, who lives near the discovery.

On Missouri 17, south of Waynesville just inside the national forest, there's a little dirt path used by hunters and campers. In a clearing just a few hundred feet from the highway, a hunter found a box containing a significant amount of explosives.

A bomb squad from Fort Wood used a robot and found commercial explosives and decided it could not be moved and had to be detonated there. The sheriff's office warned neighbors in the area and, about 15 minutes later, two large explosions rattled windows in the area and left two craters each about two feet across. Leaves were blown off trees and the explosion set a small brush fire that was quickly put out by firefighters.

"Given how volatile it was, I'm glad that he found it. Kids ride their bicycles down there; other hunters go down that path; and it's getting on deer season. It would have been loaded with people down there so we're pretty grateful," said Pulaski County Sheriff's Sgt. Eric Dean.

An investigation continues into who put the explosive there as it is a state and federal offense to be in possession of those kinds of explosives, which can not be purchased easily. <snip>

Dozens of propane tanks stolen from 3 different metro locations

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Several Missouri law enforcement agencies have notified the FBI about a large amount of cell phone purchases from area Walmarts.

Now, another incident has some people wondering if we are in danger of a terrorist attack in our area. A large number of propane tanks have been reported stolen from several locations is Independence and Lee`s Summit.

At the end of November, a BP gas station in Lee`s Summit reported 18-20 propane tanks stolen from the outside cages. That same night the CVS on Southwest 3rd Street reported the exact same crime.

Two weeks later, the CVS on East 23rd Street in Independence was hit, and 28 tanks were stolen from that location.

Sources within law enforcement say they received an urgent safety email about the propane thefts.

While there are several ways those tanks and cell phones phones can be used, in this climate, terror attacks are always a consideration.<snip>

Another Bulk Cell Phone Purchase Reported in Ava

AVA, Mo. -- According to the City of Ava's Facebook page, their police department received a call early Saturday morning regarding a man purchasing a large amount of phones at Walmart.

The original police report was for a Middle Eastern man who purchased cell phones, then left his phone in the restroom. Officers responded and secured the phone.

While the officers were on scene, the man returned to get his phone. They spoke with the man, asked for identification, and decided they had no legal reason to detain him.

Officers contacted the Missouri Highway Patrol Intelligence Unit to advise them of the situation.

After speaking with employees at the Lebanon Wal-Mart, officers found discovered that the subject had already purchased 59 cell phones from that store earlier.<snip>

Suspicious phone purchase in Jefferson City is fourth reported in mid-Missouri

COLUMBIA, Mo. -
ABC 17 News has confirmed someone also tried to buy a suspicious number of phones at Wal-Mart East in Jefferson City, after similar purchases in Columbia, Macon and Lebanon. FBI agents in St. Louis and Springfield have both been contacted and are investigating.

ABC 17 News reported earlier on Wednesday that 100 prepaid cell phones were purchased at two Missouri Walmarts over the weekend, and employees reported the incidents to authorities. On Thursday, police in Jefferson City also said they had a similar report of an attempted purchase within the same time frame.

The Columbia Police Department was notified on Monday of a suspicious purchase at the Walmart on Conley Road. According to the police report, several men bought dozens of phones around 9:30 Friday night.

ABC 17 New talked to a witness who didn't want to be identified said the men paid with cash.

"Right then and there I knew there was not something adding up about this. It's not right, it doesn't make any sense," he said. "Who's going to order 50 phones for Christmas? Who does that?"

"I think on the surface that is suspicious," said Paul Fennewald, the former Missouri Homeland Security Coordinator. "If I had seen the same thing, I probably would have called somebody also."<snip>

Police say just before 4am Saturday morning, two men purchased about 60 phones from the Walmart store.
Police were called, but after talking with them police say they didn't have a legal reason to detain them.

"I'm not going to say just because they're a different religion or because they're Muslim. But these people were, they were foreign-speaking. You need to take notice, you need to let us know about it because it doesn't hurt to check on it. You're not being racist or anything like that. Police: FBI investigating suspicious cell phone purchases in Jackson, Cape Girardeau

(KFVS) -
Large quantities of cell phones recently sold at Walmart stores at Jackson, Cape Girardeau, Columbia, Macon, and Lebanon, Mo. have set off some alarms.

Jackson Police Captain Rodney Barnes confirms 48 pre-paid cell phones were purchased at the Walmart in Jackson on Friday, Dec. 4.

Cape Girardeau Police Chief Wes Blair says up to 10 pre-paid cell phones were purchased the same day at the Cape Girardeau Walmart.

Both the Jackson and Cape Girardeau police departments turned over their investigations to the FBI.

A witness who does not want to be identified says that she and a family member saw a man with several pre-paid cell phones in his shopping cart Friday at the Cape Girardeau Walmart on William Street. She thought it was suspicious and wondered if maybe he was going to re-sell them.

Later that night, the woman said that same family member went to the Jackson Walmart and saw the same man with another individual buying several pre-paid phones.

The witnesses thought it was suspicious, but didn’t think any more about it until they saw the news headlines about the suspicious phone purchases at other Missouri Walmart locations.<snip>

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The FBI has been notified of multiple incidents involving large purchases of prepaid cellphones across Mid-Missouri.

According to the Columbia Police Department, officers received a report five or more males purchasing multiple prepaid cell phones at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday, December 4.

The Macon County Sheriff's Office issued a statement saying the agency along with Macon Police are investigating a similar incident that happened at the Macon Wal-Mart. Macon County officials said they received the report Saturday.

The Sheriff's office said information collected in their investigation was submitted to the FBI Saint Louis and Springfield Office.

The Laclede County Sheriff's Department says two men purchased a large number of cell phones at the Walmart at around 3:50 a.m. on Saturday.
