I've been purposely avoiding the Web since the shooting in Texas, by distracting myself through planting a flower garden and general yard work.

There is much to be said for making your body hurt more than your thinking mind.

After completing the garden, I mowed and reseeded the lawn yesterday.

I worked as a nanny/care giver/preschool teacher with scores of children, ranging from 6 weeks to 6 years, for close to a decade. Children of all backgrounds and nationalities and income levels.


People are people and respond similarly to certain stimuli.

Smiling is universal across our species. Stereotypes and blatant bigotry hurts everyone.

To be clear..I find racism ignorant and racists intolerable.

I have an 'ignore list' full of accounts I saw being openly racist and moved them out of my sight. Most don't sign in anymore and I'd like to think the majority were bots, socks and Russian trolls.

That's how I explain the hatred and intolerance I witnessed, to myself.
