His brother and his family spent Christmas and New Years in Ireland and Scotland. You might remember we had their pugs for 3 weeks.

He wanted to theme it after what he saw there. I’m really pleased how it turned out. Maybe some day I’ll start drinking casually again.

I never planned to stop forever when I quit. Having recently gone back to eating beef after 13 years, I have a tendency to change my mind over time. Heh.

Sometimes just getting started is the hard part..but then again I took no part in weeks of work to get it there. I stayed upstairs and tried to ignore the noise, while being somewhat annoyed our vacation had again turned into a ‘work vacation’, where I was alone and he was working.

It does wear on me but the end result can’t be argued with. I want to add one of those flat top retro video games they use to have at Pizza Hut. Remember those?

The pool table was already there just surrounded by garage stuff. The last picture in the series is the one ‘before’ shot I got. It was just drywall and bare concrete when they started.

They put in the windows down there years ago. Great view of the water from there.

When I look at the picture with pool table and stuff ("artificial" pub)...

I imagine the Chinese room argument (ai topic), filled with red paints surrounded on walls with a single painting oriented facing toward an AI android such as Lt. Data from Star Trek.

The Chinese room argument holds that a digital computer executing a program cannot have a "mind", "understanding", or "consciousness", regardless of how intelligently or human-like the program may make the computer behave.


Chinese room thought experiment

Searle's thought experiment begins with this hypothetical premise: suppose that artificial intelligence research has succeeded in constructing a computer that behaves as if it understands Chinese. It takes Chinese characters as input and, by following the instructions of a computer program, produces other Chinese characters, which it presents as output. Suppose, says Searle, that this computer performs its task so convincingly that it comfortably passes the Turing test: it convinces a human Chinese speaker that the program is itself a live Chinese speaker. To all of the questions that the person asks, it makes appropriate responses, such that any Chinese speaker would be convinced that they are talking to another Chinese-speaking human being.

The question Searle wants to answer is this: does the machine literally "understand" Chinese? Or is it merely simulating the ability to understand Chinese? Searle calls the first position "strong AI" and the latter "weak AI".

Searle argues that, without "understanding" (or "intentionality"), we cannot describe what the machine is doing as "thinking" and, since it does not think, it does not have a "mind" in anything like the normal sense of the word. Therefore, he concludes that the "strong AI" hypothesis is false.

Long time I'm back

I've become enlightened through spirituality

I’m glad you asked. I noticed my desire for beef started to overshadow my prohibition from consuming it. I asked for prime rib on NYE and on Valentine’s Day. It was excellent and I hadn’t noticed any negatives.

For years i thought I might lose my higher energetic connections but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Yesterday my third eye got pinged so hard it felt like my forehead would crack open.

I believe it was a meme I saw of a pot roast and I asked if we could have a pot roast with a lot of carrots. It was delicious and I noticed the nagging pain in my lower left quadrant stopped hurting.

After years of dealing with that intermittent pain, to have it gone after eating beef, was all I needed to keep doing it.


We’ve had 3 pot roasts since the first and I’ve dedicate Pot Roast Monday, to keep the trend going. I took a picture of the last roast to show my dad and brother I eat beef now. Not the greatest picture.

This one was a cross rib roast. We didn’t like it as much as the regular pot roast. Fun to try new things.
