Is the horizon drop 8" x mile or 8" x mile square. Two websites tell me 2 different things

dude...we don't have to account for light refraction. it's the actual formula. Now if you don't want light refraction to fuck up any particular observation not accounting for the actual formula at play, do the experiment at night through an IR scope .

Here's a simple way to look at it. Where ever you are, the Earth slopes away from you approximately 8" per mile.

After these videos, if you still aren't skeptical about what we've been taught, then fair enough. But ffs, just check out some professionals who deal with calculations on this matter every day and their own skepticism and subsequent follow-up experiments...
