Whether Trump agrees with some of Dukes truths or not, is a moot point at the moment. Duke has a reputation as a racist, obviously & Trump is running for president. It just takes plain common sense to understand that there cannot be a relationship between the two right now, even assuming that Trump agrees with him.

That's exactly why Duke is an agent and useful tool for them. He's in on it all.

Why would Trump denounce David Duke at all? He's not been in the KKK since the 60's and he doesn't talk about anything related to it. Trump could have simply said, as he has before, that he doesn't have control over who ever supports him. And that he hasn't seen anything Duke has done so he can't just denounce him without checking him out.
