I regularly went walking without a hat last yr in 42 degc and no probs but was drinking water so?? That said i am not keeping up on uk weather, my dad says cold and wet every time i call him but not for a few wks so? But their is a drought here also as well as india. People are mostly a bit stupid, letting their kids go out without water is just reckless imo. It's prob why most people just chill out in this heat etc. |

Quoting: Goofy for God [link to www.euroweeklynews.com] Record-high temperatures across India have killed more than 300 people in recent weeks, almost all of them agricultural laborers and other poor people. The most affected states are Telangana (249 dead) and Andhra Pradesh (45 dead). Many of the victims died because they had no choice but to work outside in blistering conditions, with temperatures routinely well over 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit). One 12-year-old girl in the drought-stricken western state of Maharashtra died from the heat while fetching water. [link to www.wsws.org (secure)] A tornado without a Tornado Warning - why? [link to www.wect.com] "Heatwave"? We had a couple of warm days at the weekend with weather entirely conducive with late spring/early summer. Please provide evidence that Britain was "covered" in a foot of snow! We had a very brief flurry of snow recently, which immediately dissipated. You are clearly making crap up about a place you know nothing about! |

So...nothing out the ordinary for sure. Beautiful day here again in central Scotland though. |

Quoting: Goofy for God You need to check your sources - they're utter BS UK was NOT "covered in a foot or so of snow" A few areas of higher ground had snow, but the vast majority of UK saw little, if any, snow lying on the ground. Personally... It snowed twice where I am, once for about an hour, and the other time was no more than a brief hail shower. It didn't lie on the ground here at all, and I think you'd be hard-pushed to find ANYWHERE with more than a couple of inches that wasn't part of a mountain range. And as for the 'heatwave'. It's been warm, but there was certainy no 'heatwave' Monday was bright and sunny all say, but the temp here only got to 25°c in the shade. Nice and warm, but a long way from "scorchio..." |

Thread: Any good solutions to work out in extreme heat without feeling wasted? When it goes from one extreme to another in such a short space of time, you do feel it. Now it's raining and colder again. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 72083823 United Kingdom 05/11/2016 08:44 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The north of England and Scotland are highlands and so often get heavy snow. During the ice age Scotland was buried in 2 Kilometres of ice Our government funded Meteorological Office is full of "Warmists", the BBC was forced to move away from London (to Salford, Manchester). Our weather forecasts have gone from London centric to where-ever has an extreme event. There was barely a single snow flake last winter in the south of England. There are CONSTANT "freak" weather events all over the world. It is just the "AGW Climate Change" agenda being re-kindled, don't be fooled. Flooding and other freak events here in the UK is because we build on flood planes and on land close to rivers. Every time they create flood relief systems the floods move to somewhere else. The ecology and environment movement have prevented dredging of ditches and drainage systems. Believe it or not but dredge material is now considered toxic waste! It's all bullshit. |

Agreed, but I have noticed that the Met Office now promote extreme weather events where-ever it may be hot or cold. Last winter (2015/16)the Met Office predicted the coldest winter in decades including the south west. I advised my elderly parents stock up with food (as they live outside town and are losing mobility). My mother mocked me, (even after having a knee replacement!). F*** the Met Office and their AGW agenda. But what can you do? |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30723822 Wow, memories of my school summer holidays, scout camps, church camps and day outings and playing in the woods 30 to 50 years ago. I'm 37, but when I was a kid I remember summer time being consistently hot. Best summer I ever remember was 1995, but from then on something happened to the climate here, and the summer seasons just got worse with each passing year. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 30723822 You probably had a lot of holidays abroad, I never did. As a kid you forget bad weather during holidays because your parents find thing to do in doors. When it did snow (not often the the south) it was fun sledging. If you camped, or went on holiday in the UK to a guest house or caravan, you remember the days shivering on the beech or being blown down the promenade with rain in your ear. Getting out of sleeping bags into Wellington boots, during out clothing in front of a camp fire that was a struggle to keep going. There are periods of high sunspot activity which have given us good summers. I remember the hot dry 1975 and the summer of 1976. We have had a spell of mild weather for the last 30 years as happened in the late 1930's and early 1940's. The cold winters of 1963 were probably due to all the atomic testing. The weather has been erratic all my life. I would not want Climate Change Dickensian mini ice age winters. |

The airplane trails we see in the UK happen in spring an fall on cold clear days. "Chemtrails trails" may exist in the USA, but why would your government be using such obvious aerosols. I understand insurance companies in the US occasionally seeding hail clouds. |

Quoting: Captain Sensible There was a little snow in places a couple of weeks ago but nothing much Seems like typical spring weather to me. Nothing out of the ordinary. Quite, we've had no snow whatsoever in south England last winter. Been a few warm days in the last couple of weeks. Not really surprising it gets warm with all the new buildings, roads, driveways, and gardens that have been paved over in the past 40 years, and all the woodland / hedges that have been grubbed out. It rained and is overcast today |
