That seems like a bad idea in itself Quoting: Anonymous Coward 35687661 Walmart's been chomping at the bit to get into financial services. I remember them trying to become a full service bank at one point but it didn't pan out. So they try to do as much as they can. Nearly every store that I've been in has a Money Center at the front. Just stroll by one and look at what they do. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 19203010 United States 05/16/2016 09:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Its very easy for someone at christmas to say buy you $100 dollars on a gift card walmart money card. They are not normal though, you have to fully open some sort of account that works like a terrible bank account to even use the money you were gifted. Massive fees, huge scam. |

What is the purpose of using this "walmartmoneycard?" Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16178844 People like myself who have lost bank accounts due to a flood of fees for not having enough funds have no choice but these kinds of cards. I get my check send to this card but it will not be until Friday so I am sure it will be fixed. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 71093653 United States 05/16/2016 11:00 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Got to feel sorry for those people, though. Pretty sad when people's balance goes from 950 down to 150. One comment I read the lady may be stranded and cannot even get gas. They are getting the run a round from the reps. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 16178844 Many Walmart employees get their paycheck on one of those too. I have one, only use it for online purchases. I had a bad experience once, someone got ahold of my number through a vendor I used once and went on a shopping spree, took a month to clean up the mess. It generally only has money on it when I'm planning a purchase, otherwise it just has minimal funds (to cover the card maintenance fees for a year or so) so if something like this happens, the losses are minimal. Haven't been able to check the balance yet today; Even if my card was hit, I won't lose much. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 68720382 United States 05/16/2016 11:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | that might explain something today, some sort of intrusion. I had 37 cents. I might have to hit the website to plug in the numbers, or use my telephone to plug in the numbers. that way the hackers can get the card, and my phone line, and my computer id. Or I can boycott walmart and cut up their card. |

HAHAHAHAH! you scum. They are not charging things with a fricking credit card! This is a debit card that is linked to their account, so they are paying CASH! This card is mainly marketed to low-income people or Wal-mart employees that don't have a bank account. Imagine having $120.00 in your 'account' and someone stealing $100. |

User ID: 72176925 United States 05/17/2016 12:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I should have posted this back when it happened to us, but I didn't want to come off as a grumpy customer. It was totally my fault for not reading the reviews online, and not using a local bank. We just moved to a new town, and my husband worked late and no banks were opened at night, so when my husband got a job the only way to get a check was through a bank or prepaid card. So since we had no problems with bluebird before we tried the walmart money card with green dot bank. Everything was fine, until we ordered a second card in my name. (They charged us 3 dollars for it), the money came out of the account everything was fine until that second card did not come in. We waited the two weeks, then called customer care and got all foreign customer support. They did not understand our English, and canceled our cards(both of them), and then reported the account lost/stolen. They said it would take two weeks for a new card to arrive. In the meantime, one check was deposited. I was in a panic, called customer support furious and they refused to help, they said the only way to fix the situation was to BUY ANOTHER CARD and transfer funds online. I was like..WTH. ok whatever, so I did. But nope, there is 1. A daily transfer limit, and 2. a monthly transfer limit. We could not get all the money off the account in time to pay our bills. At this point, I decided to just suck it up and wait til the replacement cards. We immediately got a new bank, had the direct deposit moved. All that was leftover was about 800 in leftover that we could not get out of this account until these new cards came in. I wait 2 weeks, no card...3 weeks no card..I give it 4 whole weeks and finally decided to call the dreaded customer care again. It was Christmas, we NEEDED the money for our kids, needed it to pay off the storage unit that held all our personal belongings(we were between houses). They said that it was something wrong on our end that we were in the wrong for reporting the card stolen, turned the whole thing around and tried to say it was all us. I asked to speak to a supervisor..that supervisor hung up on me when I asked them to review the supposed recorded calls. At this point I was freaking out, and looked online and the only way to get the money was to close the account and have them SEND a check of the remaining funds. Well, I had never received anything from them aside from our very first initial card that came in the mail, so I was extremely hesitant to do that. I found a loophole and transferred the funds with western union through the website. Their customer service never told me about this option, and basically held our money for a very long time. Here it is, 5 months later, and I never got any cards from them. They simply never sent it. If you look at the reviews for the bank, many people have actually lost a lot of money through this card/bank. It's always a lost card scheme, and they have even claimed "strange charges" and shut off peoples accounts in order to take their funds. There is no way you can get in touch with anyone in America. I even went to call their human resources just to see if I could find a real human, and got the same number that sends you directly to their overseas line. We looked everywhere for anything, and I asked the human resources for an address and they gave me a PO box. Another alarming thing is that as soon as you activate this card, you give it all your info including your social security number. You also have to give them your social when you call them to complain or do anything else. Afterwards, my phone got hundreds of spam and scammer calls a week(all foreign). I had to change my number. I would not be surprised if there is never an official statement, and that none of the funds are returned. I don't know how this company is avoiding any criminal charges, but most people don't use it for a huge sum of funds, and it's not worth the lawyer fees. |
