Trump isn't the problem....try the RED CROSS
Instead of bashing Trump for trying to do for all citizens...children included, people should take a look at what the Red Cross is doing down here. Here are some eyewitness accounts posted on FB

[link to www.facebook.com (secure)]

So as we are headed back home from the River Center in Baton Rouge volunteering our nursing services Dawn and I have come to the conclusion that neither of us WILL EVER volunteer or donate to the RED CROSS. The Red Cross basically takes over the shelters and starts refusing clothes, donations and various volunteer services UNLESS they are previously contracted. So what does that mean....well, 60 boxes of doughnuts were discarded this morning becuase the delivery vendor was not in contract, hot meals were refused becuase the entity providing wasn't contracted, and medical supplies including medications were trashed for same reason. Clothes that were "donated" needed to be left on the street unless they were "furnished" by Red Cross. As of tomorrow, the shelter we were at will be completely over taken by the Red Cross other than the medical area because they couldnt have the actual room since LSU has a contract with state to provide medical care. Its sad when the military police were helping to "protect" the medical areas from the red cross when there are so many other issues at hand. Anyway, next time to want to donate or volunteer your services, do your homework. Feel free to share!

Still irritated with the RED CROSS who turned away people with food to cook yesterday at the Gonzales shelter. My brother and friends bought food (with their OWN money) to prepare for over 500 people and another guy was there with jambalaya supplies for over 1000. WHY?? Well, they have "certain" catering companies they contract with, meaning they have "certain" people they want to PAY for the food. They try to play it off like it's a health issue, even though the food was coming directly out of packages from Sam's. But when they tried to tell them they couldn't even give them the CLOSED BAGS OF CHIPS they had bought, they looked right at them and started throwing them to the hungry people!! Fortunately, they found a place to go cook for the first responders that no one is feeding and they were very appreciative!! Beware the Red Cross folks, and remember, the PEOPLE IN NEED do not necessarily get ALL your donations. They have administrators and directors to pay AND "CERTAIN" companies they PAY to feed folks when there are many volunteers who would do it for free...

If you go to those FB links and read the comments on the stories you will learn even more.

These people are like frickin Nazis!! One woman told of how she tried to bring a friend/family member a few things for their child to stay occupied. Her house was already full of people she took in. They would not allow the child to have the items. No one is allowed to bring personal items in.

There are stories of them not being fed...yet meals are turned away and people donating have even been run out of the parking lot for handing stuff out.

THIS STORY NEEDS TO GET OUT....PLEASE!!!

Kindness will always be rewarded. What you are talking about, and I can not speak for red cross..BUT. They, I am sure have regulations in place. It is better to be safe than sorry..What if it were someone with poison food? Or clothing infested with some thing? Medical supplies? NO. Truth is that there need be no disaster to help ones in need. Your family comes first. Maybe you have neighbors who are hungry? Your community? Start giving to ones you do not need a contract with...The Red Cross are doing their job. They have regulations to go by. They still care..

Again....read the comments in the links.

They were not bringing home cooked meals. These are pkg and sealed items being rejected. Two guys rescued all week then went to the grocery and bought all the fixings to make enough gumbo for 1000....they were turned away. There were reports of freezers full of meat being night and donated that are still in freezer bc it's not from their contracted person.

There's a lady in NOLA who filled a uhaul and brought it up. They were trying to donate but kept getting a run around. The Red Cross sent the police after them and as they were in the parking lot people were begging for stuff. A mother who had no formula, a elderly man wanting some bottled water, a young man wanting a pillow or blanket. The Red Cross officials threatened to kick them out of the shelter if they accepted a donation from the uhaul.

Again....read people's comments on those posts. Things are horrifically bad down here and the need is overwhelming. Neighbor's have a hard time helping each other because they are all in the same boat.

I remember after Katrina living on a handful of can good and not having a decent hot meal for a week. And plenty of people didn't have anything to eat. A damn MRE tasted like heaven. Someone should train these Red Cross idiots how to interact with the community, not send them in with a freakn' rule book and no common sense.

That said, I did get one hot meal from a Red Cross food wagon and it was welcomed and needed, and the Red Cross hot dog and chip food wagons were still running a month or so after Katrina.

The Parish should get off their collective asses and plan for disasters not just subcontract out disasters to the Red Cross and expect everything to be taken care of.

Every church should be a distribution center. And given legal immunity to serve as such in times of emergency.

Now this is a good idea.

Most churches already have a food bank and so maybe could claim food distribution after a disaster as just a part of that.

I have known the Red Cross was a scam for a long time, watching them following tornadoes and hurricanes. But it sounds as though they are getting worse instead of better.

This must get out to all because this is no time to waste precious resources in this manner.

This is deliberate. How can you think it is not? These fuckers need to be run out on a rail, exposed for the country to see, and not ever given a dime from anyone again. Fuck the Red Cross.
