The vet needs input apparently to find the proper antibiotic. Kitten may need two at the same time. Fnd a BETTER vet if this one will not work WITH you. Also, if the air is dry that is probably not good for anyone, including kittens with colds, lung congestion, trouble breathing, but ASK THE VET not idiots on-line. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 38551023 United States 09/20/2016 06:52 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Hey, i got this kitten for 6weeks now and he has a chronic cold that wont go away in spite of using antibiotics. He got his right eye and nostril constant discharge green in colour and obviously isnt going too well. He still eats but now he is becoming less active. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 73027766 What to do? Anyone with experience with cats and alternative treatments here? Thanks! I know you are taking the kitty to a vet, and antibiotics don't seem to be working. I know colloidal silver and olive leaf extract (liquid form) have helped my cats in the past. I don't know if this is the proper way to administer, but I put a little behind my cat's head, the neck area where vets give them shots, the bottom of the neck between the shoulders, just massaged a little into her, and also did the same with the root of the tail. It helped my kitty heal from a bacterial infection quickly, when I didn't have any money at all to take her to a vet. You can probably find info on how to administer. I didn't give either to her orally. You can put a little colloidal silver in your kitten's milk or drinking water, just a small amount. I wouldn't try it with olive leaf, since I never gave it to my cats orally. I don't know for sure how it will work on a kitten, but I think it's worth a try. My sister also used olive leaf years ago, a little at the root of her tail, where her back meets her tail. Olive leaf extract is antiviral and antibacterial, and colloidal silver is antibacterial. Good luck, and God bless the little kitten. I hope he gets better. |

Quoting: Pillar2 The antibiotic given was Ronaxan/Doxycycline. I dont know if this is the right antibiotic. I will order colloidal silver and colostrum and see how it goes. |

Introduce a beaten egg in it's diet, just a little though, trust me, it helps and don't give it hard foods atm either, it's way too young. Filtered water is ok, avoid milk. (When we eat a lot of bad foods we get 'thet gunk' in our eyes. Its the same thing.) Ever had Conjunctivitis? |

My cats love it, live on it, and live to be over 20 years old. I'd complain more, but I'm too busy being blessed. |

It's sulfer which will help as well, and it's encouraged to give to pets and humans. |

Some bacteria are resistant to certain antibiotics. Your vet may need to culture a sample to figure out which antibiotics will work. Shotgunning it can sometimes make things worse. One of my kitties had been sick for a while and couldn't shrug it off. Now is doing fantastic after a course of the right antibiotic. The reason the left wants you disarmed is because they plan to do things to you that you would shoot them for. To a cat, "No" just means to try again later. Silver kills disease organisms and also cures banksteritis. |

The cat could have a multiple resistant bug. If it has the only thing that will work is prayer and love. I will pray for your kitty. pray to Jesus Note - not in India, in the UK, English born and bred! lol Not in Belgium either, I hoped a change of ISP to Plusnet would sort it out, seems not. |

Force hydration using a small bulb syringe to gently squeeze water and colloidal silver solution into mouth throughout the day. Orphaned kitten formula would be the best food for now, since it contains colostrum to fight infections. Keep eyes clean of accumulated bacterial/mucus debris and then swab gently with 3% hydrogen peroxide/ Betadine iodine to kill bacteria, then apply triple antibiotic ointment to eyes, All of these supplies should be available at your local pharmacy. |

User ID: 56196598 United States 09/20/2016 09:21 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | THIS!! We have saved several feral kittens, and their eyes, by using this. Its a vitamin that helps with cold sores. The feral kittens have herpes. It gets into their eyes, and will blow them out if not treated. Take 1 lysine pill, crush it up, then split it up into lines, like cocaine, and mix 1 line in a little bit of moist food, 3 x day. You should see improvement in 3 days or so. Justitiae soro Fides |
