Sincerely want to know- when Christ says there would be 'few' that would enter in at the strait gate. Few is the word oligos and it means puny. Catholics comprise nearly 1/5 of the world's population- how in the world does that qualify as puny??!

Strait/narrow is thlebo meaning tribulation. Not talking about self flagellation, actual hatred from the majority- the non few. Catholics comprising nearly 1/5 of the world's population can not say they are subject to hatred and rejection as was Christ by the religious leaders (sorta like Catholic leaders, eh)

If your cause is to spread the gospel so that anyone may have the chance of salvation through Jesus you are not doing this cause any good.

No, my cause is representing Truth as revealed in the Word of God for the few, not for anyone. May seem semantics, but God has an elect family and salvation is not for every last person, only for the elect. No ear tickling is necessary- the elect love to hear the Truth even if they've never heard it before.

Poor fella had OCD and a fecal obsession. The Reformation is nothing to celebrate, just as we would not celebrate the widespread onset of schizophrenia.

He translated the Bible, all right...and edited out 7 books that contradicted his rebellious beliefs. He deleted 2 Maccabees, which supports the doctrine of Purgatory, and was hostile to the Book of James, which explicitly states that faith and works are necessary for salvation.

The Bible could not be mass-produced and distributed to the population at large--most of whom were illiterate, anyway--until well after the invention of the printing press, c. 1440-1450.

With all due respect..."Christendom" is progressively weakened by ongoing division, most notably starting with the Protestant Reformation. To strive toward unity among the followers of Christ is to flesh out and correct error.

There are an estimated 42,000 non-Catholic "Christian" denominations, and something like 2.1 new ones are added by the week. When Christ speaks of His Church, I do not think he is referring to a corporation consisting of tens of thousands of splinter denominations.

There is only one original Christian Church, the one instituted by Christ Himself, in 33 A.D.... which, in spite of sometimes flawed leadership and various challenges, has endured for two centuries because it is guided and protected by the Holy Spirit.

Truth > Unity
Christ is the head of the church, not a man in a glitzy robe. It is faith in Christ and recognizing him as the Son of God that is the basis for the church....not Peter.
You'll probably get to burn me as a heretic of the coming One World Religion...so at least you'll be able to look forward that. I look forward to that day for completely different reasons...in my suffering Christ will be glorified.

Hmmmm...you seem to advocate unity, yet you seem to fear a One World Religion. No one needs to fear unity under the only Church established by Christ Himself in 33 A.D.. Necessary reform can come from within the Church, such as that accomplished by St. Francis of Assisi, and such as the ongoing reparations and procedural changes for clergy sex abuse. What aspect of the Reformation was unifying? And how would you propose unifying the followers of tens of thousands of Christian denominations?

Christ Himself put Peter in charge of His Church, so you might consider prayerful discernment of the matter. All priests operate under His Power, through the action of the Holy Spirit.

ALL of the major denominations have misguided teachings / past violence / hatred etc...and it wouldn't surprise me if a fair percentage of those 40,000+ were originally part of larger congregations, groups of folks that got fed up with church politics / misguided policy decisions etc...

The RCC isn't Christ's church. Rome merely assimilated the network of Christian churches that had been in existence since the apostles had begun establishing them after Christ's ascension.

Over 300 Christian leaders from that network attended the Council at Nicea. They would have had FULL knowledge of the various documents used to create the Latin Bible over the next 100+ years.

The Reformation was God's answer to the all the crap the RCC had put forth by the time the Council of Trent made their decrees etc...

What about the fifty million people that died at the hands of the Roman Catholic church? Somehow that always gets skipped over in history. Persecution, because people wanted to read the Bible for themselves. RCC couldn't allow that because it clearly showed that their teachings were wrong. Fifty million people tortured and killed in ways you can't even imagine, to keep the Bible out of the hands of the people.

Even today, the pope is still trying to shun a direct relationship with Jesus. The arrogance of the RCC knows no bounds and the atrocities are so heinous that they're unspeakable.

Prophecy is being fulfilled. If you're celebrating the reformation, you're on the wrong side.
