9:45 AM PST -- A rep for the castle says, "The magic community mourns the loss of one of our most beloved and talented performers and the AMA’s deepest regrets and heart-felt sympathy go out to Daryl’s family." They also added that Daryl was found fully clothed, but multiple law enforcement sources tell us he was in his underwear.update_grey_gray_barThe Magic Castle shut down to the public Friday evening after the body of a magician was found in a closet ... and it appears the man hanged himself ... We're told paramedics responded to the Hollywood landmark around 7:30 PM after a man with a bag over his head, and dressed only in his underwear, was found by an employee. The magician, who we're told is Daryl Easton was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Magic Castle is a legendary private restaurant and performance nightclub ... and has become a favorite for magicians while they're in L.A.

As of now, cops are investigating the death as a possible suicide.

My spouse is in a very selective, "secret society".

It basically amounts to getting a secret name, paying dues, and steering business to fellow members. (And, no, it has absolutely nothing to do with faggy masons or daughters of eastern stars. This is an Irish thing...definitely practical and not esoteric.)

They have to wear stupid hats once a year, because the founder started the tradition more than 100 years ago.

We joke about it all the time, but it is real.

My point is that not every exclusive club is notorious and sometimes people really do kill themselves.

Hollyweird has more than the average share of bridge dives and overdoses. I could imagine a magician thinking this would be the perfect place to off himself.

Although being in his underware while hung definitely makes me think it was sexual...erotic asphyxiation.

Magicians are not exactly at the top of the power food chain these days.

Ya never know... magicians are the epitome of deception. Making things disappear or reappear with a flick of the wrist and stringing words together with such precision they actually become powerful.

The death of a world-class magician found hanged in his dressing room at a popular Hollywood nightclub called the Magic Castle was ruled an accident on Saturday by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Department, an agency official said.


Daryl Easton, 61, touted on his website as a card-trick specialist known internationally as "The Magician's Magician," was found by employees of the club hanged on Friday in a death that police said they were investigating as an apparent suicide.
