Quoting: humbird "When" and "whenever" have completely different meanings, and the undereducated vernacular has penetrated popular culture to the point that we get these dialogues on Judge Judy, reality shows, social media, and even mainstream media, who should know better. "When" denotes a specific instant in time, you might say. "Whenever" may be used for repeated instances. Wrong usage:" At 8:30 yesterday, whenever Jahqueesia bought Skittles, I told her she owed me the money." (Should say "when".) Right usage: Whenever Takeela borrowed money, she was supposed to pay me back. (Denotes every single time.) Have you seen someone have a problem? LINK? |
