In order to acquire wisdom, it’s necessary to have passed through the greatest difficulties, the greatest ordeals
In order to acquire wisdom, it’s necessary to have passed through the greatest difficulties, the greatest ordeals. A person’s wisdom speaks of all the experiences they have had, all the victories they have won over evil, and you should feel respect and admiration for them, because they have paid very dearly to acquire it. And if they are truly wise, you can read in their attitude and their look the certainty that with faith, work and time all obstacles can be overcome. Even if their face bears the marks of suffering, what predominates is the presence of a light, something secret and profound which radiates and lights up their whole face.

The Kingdom of God is first and foremost a state of consciousness, a way of living and working. That is why it cannot be realised on the physical plane until it is first realised in our thoughts. Once realised in our thoughts it will descend into the heart, into our feelings, and it is then that it can finally be expressed in our actions. For such is the order of manifestation in matter: thought – feeling – action. One day the Kingdom of God will manifest tangibly on earth, but first it must enter the thoughts and feelings of humanity. And we can see that the process has already begun. Thousands of people in the world – actually many more than you think – nourish within themselves the ideal and love of the Kingdom of God. And in some of them, in their conduct and their way of life, the Kingdom of God has in fact already been achieved.

The more numerous we are when we are together, the more our fraternal radiance attracts divine entities that come to help, giving us health, strength, and light. We do not gather together because we are happy to see each other and to pass the time in a pleasant way, but to do a conscious work. And this work consists of submitting our personal, egotistic life to the law of brotherhood, universality, and harmony. Each harmonious vibration we create attunes us to the great cosmic harmony. The word 'harmony' embodies every virtue, all blessings. When harmony penetrates us, it will tune us like an instrument; the Spirit will then lightly play us and draw out the most beautiful sounds. This is working for the Kingdom of God.

"For centuries Christians have been taught that earth is a place of iniquity and that the physical body is an instrument of the devil; only Heaven and the salvation of their soul count. What lack of understanding! And most of those who accepted these theories neglected their body and ended up desiccated and fossilized. They thought of themselves as being sublime, but people who do not take on life here on earth can have no true life in Heaven.

The age of Aquarius, however, brings a different philosophy. Aquarius teaches that human beings should look towards Heaven without turning away from and losing sight of earth. We must look up at Heaven and bring down from it all that is beautiful, pure, luminous and eternal. We in turn shall then become a mirror of Heaven, a conductor of Heaven, a garden, an orchard, a sun. Why should Paradise only be up above and misery, poverty and ugliness only be down here on earth? No, from here on in things will be different and beauty will descend on earth, and everything - the stones, the plants, the animals and human beings - will be radiant."

As a conscious entity, the human being stands at the frontier between the lower and higher worlds. If he is not vigilant, he is drawn in by the dark forces of the lower world which crush and devour him. And once he is devoured he is thrown out, because nothing is left of him. Whereas if he is attracted and absorbed by the forces of the higher world, everything brightens and he becomes a centre of luminous, powerful and beneficial currents. While you must strive to escape the attraction of the lower world, however, you must not abandon yourself completely to the attractions of the higher world. Your mission is to work on earth using the forces of heaven, without losing sight of the balance that must be maintained between heaven and earth. Since you are here on earth, you must not abandon it prematurely. If you upset this balance in an attempt to hasten your return to heaven, you will perhaps live in the immensity, in the light, but you will fail to fulfil your mission, which is to work on earth with the resources of heaven.

To give and to take: nothing is more important for us than to balance these two processes. But to take from what, and give to whom? The answer lies in the symbolism of the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet, Aleph a . Aleph represents the human being who has succeeded in creating a bond between heaven and earth, so that he can receive from heaven and give to earth. Why would we take anything from human beings, when the poor creatures have next to nothing? It is from heaven, which is infinitely rich, that we must take so that we can give to people. The letter Aleph teaches us that our work is to become the link between heaven and earth. From a symbolic point of view, the Christ, the perfect man, is this link. He receives heaven’s blessings and distributes them on earth. Consider the letter Aleph, then, as the symbol for the highest possible ideal you can attain. Let it be a constant reminder of the work you must undertake, so that you too can bring heaven to earth.

"Tarot cards are full of meaning, if you know how to interpret them. Take the first card, the Magician, which corresponds to the first Hebrew letter, Aleph. It shows a man standing before a table, with one arm raised and the other lowered. So this man is performing an action. But what is it? His raised arm connects him with heaven, and his lowered arm with the earth, with humans. The forces he receives from heaven pass through him, and he gives them to the earth. He is the letter Aleph (a), which schematically resembles someone with one arm reaching toward the sky and the other reaching toward the earth.

But to be Aleph also means knowing how to take the forces of the earth and project them towards heaven, in other words how to act as an intermediary. This is what Jesus was expressing when he said, 'No one comes to the Father, except through me.' Aleph is a symbol for the perfect human being, who is linked to heaven and therefore works for the earth and all of humanity."
