Nixon issued a "blanket pardon" for all Viet Nam POWs. The article that I read about this implied that it was done that way so as NOT to individually identify people like songbird McCain who even then had political ambitions.

According to Colonel Ted Guy, John McCain’s commander as a POW, McCain collaborated with the enemy.

McCain is accused of giving information that led to the downing of 60 US aircraft.

McCain is accused of training North Vietnamese air defense personnel.

McCain is accused of making over 30 propaganda broadcasts against the US, broadcasts he moved to have classified when he was elected to the senate.

These 4 accusations are the only real and supportable accusations against McCain.

I recall reading somewhere that he gave the enemy very detailed info on exact in flight maneuvers US pilots took to avoid enemy fire. I think this is from testimony of fellow POW's in addition to his commanding officer in the POW camp. Which, by the way, he didn't spend much of his time there. He was put up in a nice hotel with good food and hookers most of the time while in N.Vietnam, per fellow POWs.

Instead of reading fake news you should actually look up the pardons granted by Nixon. No such thing exists. The story and the claim wasn't even that Nixon blanket pardoned every Vietnam prisoner of war, but supposedly pardoned 33 of them specifically of which McCain was one. No, he wasn't.
