Our culture makes idols out of celebrities and wealthy individuals - and this idolization (unfortunately) leads to a majority of the population placing an increased emphasis and sense of importance on whatever these celebrities are doing/saying... Now, how to encourage others to stop worshipping celebrities and paying so much attention to them? It won't come about through continuing to make them the subject of conversations and continuing to draw attention to them (even for the purpose of discrediting them)... I still hold the perspective that they must be ignored/avoided and as little conscious energy and attention directed their way as possible... Some of these football players probably see the media shitstorm as evidence/confirmation that their actions are 'making a difference' and 'getting people talking about these issues'... Whereas if what they are doing had been ignored/disregarded from the get-go - no one would have been affected by their nonsense.... Of course the media wasn't going to allow a ratings grab to pass them by - however you see how many people out there are getting worked up into a frenzy over this, and it's only stoking the flames and allowing this nonsense to persist much longer than it should...

They can reach so many people very quickly. The fact that I shared it doesn't change how people will react to it. It only helps people decide who they will support with their time and money. We need to share what we know about these celebrities with each other so that we can be informed on who to ignore. It takes too long to make these discoveries on my own, and every day I am adding more jack asses to my list.
