Train tracks should be graded to handle 80MPH around a curve.
I mean other countries have trains that go 200MPH, why can't tracks be tilted so that trains can go their top speeds around corners.

The U.S. is living in the 1930's or something?

It's ridiculous that a train going 80MPH should have to slow down to friggin 30MPH to make a curve when it is not designed for anywhere near the speed of the train,

it's time for The U.S. to leave the industrial age.

Exactly, but the train track infrastructure itself needs to be updated.

Positive train control? This should be a MUST for any train going 80 MPH entering a busy city.

What are they thinking?

The Asians are eating our lunch.

"The N700 series (N700; Enu nanahyaku-kei) is a Japanese Shinkansen high-speed train with tilting capability developed jointly by JR Central and JR-West for use on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines since 2007, and also operated by JR Kyushu on the Kyushu Shinkansen line.

N700 series trains have a maximum speed of 300 km/h (186 mph), and tilting of up to one degree allows the trains to maintain 270 km/h (168 mph) even on 2,500 m (8,200 ft) radius curves"

Notice the tracks are straight where it derailed,
the curve is in front of the engine car.
