I cant stand driving in Baltimore or D.C. as it is. Throw snow into the mix?... no thanks
 Quoting: Master of Nothing

I don't think driving here in Arkansas during a snowstorm will be any easier.
Found this video, which shows the route I take every day to work and back. He doesn't show the s-turns later on, but you get the idea. At least they have guardrails....that can't be said for other treacherous roadways here.

[link to www.youtube.com (secure)]
 Quoting: TunedOut

I wouldn't mind that drive every day. Beautiful over there. Reminds me of my drives to Morgantown wv from nova through the mountains. Miss that drive. Drove through a bad snow storm in the mountains once, I've never been so sketched out behind the wheel. Just like your road, sharp turns and steep inclines with nothing but guardrails protecting ya.
 Quoting: Master of Nothing

I may find out how fun it is to take that drive tomorrow morning. Only a 30 percent chance of a mix here overnight, but it's going to be below freezing with a wind chill of 9.
I hate winter :(
 Quoting: TunedOut

Looks like that 30% chance didn't materialize and no snow came! Enjoy that ride this morning.

I love winter. You can only get so naked in the summer, but you can always manage to bundle up and stay warm in the winter. One thing i love about where i live, we get a good taste of all seasons.

Snow drought in Nova Scotia Canada.

Least amount of snow since records began by environment Canada.

Going to be twelve degrees Celsius tomorrow.

Nothing but rain in the forecast for us the next few weeks.

Upstate NY

-30 degree wind chills a few days ago and 52 degrees today. Snow melting everywhere.

About an 80 degree difference within a week.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 48587106

Same exact thing here north of Boston. Tomorrow is going to be 57 degrees, and Sunday will be 24.

Lots of flooding concerns being mentioned on the local news.
 Quoting: Simple27

Then just going to ice all over again come Sunday. Yikes

South Central Indiana - we got Ice, Ice, baby. Little pellets of slippery doom everywhere. We got our biannual snow plow going down the main street which is weird because the snow has not started falling yet.

60 degrees yesterday, 21 degrees now with a low of 14 yet to come.
 Quoting: -Haun-

I love the sound of freezing rain hitting everywhere. But what a pain in the ass afterwards.

It's 60 degrees out here already! high of 65 with supposed rain most the day. Then 15 degrees forecasted for saturday/sunday night.

Winter Storm Hunter Could Vault Erie, Pennsylvania, to a New Snowfall Record

"Erie's snowiest winter on record occurred 17 years ago, during the 2000-01 season, when 149.1 inches piled up at Erie International Airport. That means only 16.1 inches of additional snow will tie the record, and since we haven't yet reached the midpoint of winter, it seems likely a new record will be set in the weeks ahead."

Australia had third-hottest year ever in 2017, weather bureau says

"Queensland and New South Wales experienced their warmest years on record in 2017 as the trend of warmer than average temperatures across Australia continued, the Bureau of Meteorology said. The bureau’s annual climate statement released on Wednesday revealed 2017 was Australia’s third-hottest year on record, with the annual national mean temperature 0.95C above the average. It meant the 11-year mean temperature between 2007 and 2017 was now the highest on record, and seven of Australia’s 10 warmest years had occurred since 2005."

Re: The Weather Thread
In 2017 we saw the most costly damage from weather the United States has ever seen. In the first weeks of 2018 we have seen blizzards and snow from Florida to Maine, 40 degree temperature swings and deadly flooding in California. The crazy, unpredictable weather is being felt and observed by Glp'ers from all over the world.

The goal of this thread is simply to observe, compare and contrast forecasts - to what really ends up happening. Meteorologists are wrong - ALOT. It would seem the weather has been getting harder to predict, and the storms are becoming intense. Here maybe we can piece together the puzzling weather of late. I've been wanting to create this thread for a while, because it baffles me how inaccurate forecasts have been in the past, and even more so as of recently! Here we can have a template of what was predicted, what really happened and maybe it'll help shed light on what we can expect in the future!

Feel free to post anything weather related. From links, to videos to your daily weather forecast and/or observations. The more data the better. I will give daily forecasts for a few cities including my current location. This should be interesting and fun. I'll try my hardest to update here on the regular. But i sure could use some help from you fine GLP weathertards.

Since the year 1900, Earths magnetic field has weekend over 15%. This is as of 2015. When Earths magnetic field weakens, it forces the ionosphere to inch closer to Earth, which in turn compresses the atmosphere.

Just like when you squeeze a balloon, the ionospheric compression forces the air in the atmosphere to move quicker as it attempts to stabilize. This results in increased storm power, more frequent storms, and has even more implications towards seismic activity.

Also, with the ionosphere inching closer to Earths surface (still many many many miles away), it allows for radiation from the sun to more easily enter Earths electric grid. This also has implications towards seismic activity and volcanoes, as proven & spoken of by Ben Davis who owns and operates suspicious0bservers dot org, spaceweathernews dot com, magnetic reversal dot com and more.

If you have a moment, check out some of the above listed websites to find some in depth examples of how the suns radiation enters, affects, modulates and enhances the atmosphere & weather systems.

Good post here! It blows my mind they still try and blame the climate cycle on humans - when there is so much evidence pointing to a weakening magnetic field.

I'm a believer that electromagnetism is king in the universe. Not so much gravity. Any fluctuating we see with a magnetic field is going to have serious consequences imo.

I use 2 weather apps. I like to compare them.

For this coming Friday and Saturday, one app says we could get a foot of snow.
The other app says 3 inches.

I’ll report back on Sunday.

It’s not Sunday yet, but they keep changing the forecast.
Currently about 52F (12C). Raining heavily. And it’s gloriously warm (the air on my skin doesn’t hurt! So nice lol).
Temp will drop quickly this afternoon and flash freeze everything.

The weather network is saying about 6 inches of snow overnight.
Accuweather is saying less than an inch.

Yes. Annapolis Maryland receiving what I refer to as thick jelly rain for last 2 hours atleast. Ground was bone dry and I am blocks from the south river. I just hope that the inserted chemicals still allow some moisture to be received into the ground.
