They smell like urine. Quoting: Sungaze_At_Dawn And have resorted to buying expensive Canada made products that fixed the entire problem. Immediately thought that perhaps this was being done in China or something and that they putting urine in our washing detergents. It could go beyond clothes. Kept searching and the closest find was: [link to www.smithsonianmag.com (secure)] Historical use of pee in cleaning. They even said it gave you a whiter smile in the olden days! Is anyone else noticing the bad smell of laundry detergent and has suspicions as to what is going on? My belief is the evil elites do the worst things and you can find an article like above, almost promoting the olden days, then it means they're already doing it. It's not just the chemicals, because this is relatively new, can't pinpoint when, but its been noticed and finally dealt with, over the past half a year. I always like the Arm and Decker brand with the baking soda, but it's changed. Not what it used to be at all, nor the tide. I can't say the same here, OP, about my Tide Pods smelling like pee. I have, it stopped with the expensive small bottles of Canadian made and sourced product. It's only with the main brand names. Which is why I suspect they're outsourcing to China and we're being treated like "shit" or rather "urine"! Yes that was my main one, and tide as an occasional substitute while shopping depending on which store I found myself in and what was available. But have had to switch to an all Canadian made and sourced one that doesn't smell like urine. I don't think most notice what the scent is, because they use scented softeners or dryer sheets, which mask a lot. I've been hand washing a few things for years and didn't like the after smell of the dish detergent either. But then switched to the handwash mode in the washing machine, that's when it became very apparent the smell was so much like urine. Gave the whole family the sniff test and we're all using an expensive Canadian made brand now. So the arm and decker is gone. Wonder if they have a different type sold in the States than in Canada? And how much of the main brand names is outsourced to China? Maybe make 2 lots up of the same thing. Somethings wrong and I'm trying to find out exactly what. I always add laundry soda to the machine. I know what you mean, but you can wash the machine with vinegar before doing your wash. Make sure you run and empty before doing your clothes. You will not have a problem with odor. I do that, I use a dutch dryer to dry some of our knits. If you don't have a dutch dryer; you would love it. GOOD LUCK!! |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 63155543 United States 01/26/2019 06:18 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I've started using the Lysol Laundry Sanitizer. It's somewhat new. A liquid. So, it's been said that the laundry/clothing odor issues comes down to bacteria. Bacteria causes odors. This stuff is a "quat" sanitizer. Not bleach. It's "applied" in the rinse cycle. You must follow the instructions on the bottle. It needs to be in the rinse water for 15 minutes. No less. Temperature doesn't matter. I've found a siginificant difference and never use fabric softeners/sheets anymore. It's a clean rinse. No residues. The fragrance is very "clear" and subtle, not masked and fragrant. I've also found that as time passes, it's harder and harder to find, as it flies off the shelves anymore. People are catching on. I swear by it. A great solve. |

The perfumes are meant to mask it. Vinegar in the rinse cycle will cut down on static. Last Edited by hillbilly on 01/26/2019 07:03 AM Water is the only drink for a wise man.
