Also a small wound that they super glued shut, probably charged $500 or more just for that ...

and it opened back up two days later and I had to use regular super glue and butterfly bandages to close it back up

you expect an ER to be expensive, but that's ridiculous

even worse that an "urgent care" would charge that much

I mean, is it a liability thing, because if you come in say you need stitches with an open gaping wound they will probably just send you to the ER because you need more care than they can provide?

Stitches are an emergency type thing. I mean, if you think about it, generally people don’t intentionally create gaping wounds on themselves that need repairing.

I have never gotten stitches, but have had a few occasions where they may have been needed. My body has healed fine without them. These were not SERIOUS wounds though. Just want to put in my 2 cents.

Medications and other remedies can worsen wounds and bleeding. Best to Eat Healthy and Exercise and try to practice moderation in all things for basic Overall Health.

We have used super glue, in our house.

Softens skin to loosen off in water,
keep it dry for a couple of days,
a must if you want it to 'stitch',
tape holding it closed is good too.

Blood flowing out of a wound, nothing is going in.
as clean as possible, wipe, pinch and glue, cover the 'cut' and surrounding area.

Hold it and let it dry completely.
Tape across, while not releasing 'holding together', doesn't matter what tape.

Keep dry.

In my opinion unless you have a large gash or something larger than 3 inches on your body with depth, I dont see the IMMEDIATE need for stitches. I have had cuts like this man who likes to sew himself, but I never felt need to stitch that. I have a few scars but nothing serious and I am perfectly fine.

Cover the wound, keep it clean. And just use common sense. IDK maybe Im just different..?
