Duckduckgo is censoring search results almost as aggressively as Google. What other options are there?

I was just thinking the same thing a couple days ago. I have been using duck duck go now for about a year and the last month or so it seems to be redirecting and burying things that easily came up on the first page or so a few months back. Did google buy them or invest in them?

Yandex.com is a site I was just turned on to.

duckduck uses the google search engine

it just does not report your location

DuckDuckgo is just a proxy search via google, it masks your information so the search doesn't' tie back to our PC

you can get a telescope and see the moon.. even as a total noob i took an image of the moon tonight, by sticking my cellphone upto the lens of my binoculars, then i can enhance it on my PC.. But secretive or sensitive information is always going to be hidden, and there's always people trying to dig it up, such as alex jones, and other similar people and UFOlogists and what not. Sure they can get taken down and censored as well, but they will move to a different medium maybe not even electronic if it gets that bad.

End of the day you can use the internet, wikipedia etc to find the mainstream info you want, and the esoteric stuff you will have to dig, usually through a lot of fake news, decoys, cover stories and fluff and censorship.

DuckDuckGo is a relatively new search engine, and a wannabe competitor against Google. The search engine, which promotes itself as a "fair search" competitor to Google.

I use Bing so I can get free microsoft products and xbox live. It works good sofar

Nothing I've said is "misinformation." Duckduckgo is returning different results than it did months ago, along with not giving me results for reddit threads when I type the exact thread name. From what I can tell DDG does not use Google's search engine, but it does collect results from many different search engines, including Google and Yandex.

I sometimes use Metacrawler which combines results from several different engines

Yandex, headquartered in Moscow. Not sure your going to get unfiltered results there, either.

Duckduckgo is NOT censoring search results.

DDG filters results in three cases:
- If it's "Adult" and SafeSearch is enabled (this can be disabled at [link to duckduckgo.com (secure)]
- If it's a "content-mill" meaning it's from a website that churns out low-quality information
- If DDG doesn't know about it; DDG doesn't have the money to crawl as much of the web as Google or Bing (DDG does use Yandex and other search indexes, but those are way smaller than Google's)

And how can you be sure of this? They are only partially open source, and there is clearly some sort of agenda to censor the internet. Duckduckgo is about privacy, not transparency; what makes you think they couldn't be paid to remove certain things?

Jive Search doesn't censor. It's basically an open source version of Duck. It is open source so if you ever have an issue then you can run your own or hop on someone else's instance. It also has better privacy because they're not hosted on Amazon.

Duck Duck is now also censoring searches.
When I went to look for information on the F-22's that were missing from Tyndall, Google powered Duck Duck Go censored every return on the topic, other than very spurious reports, when it was an MSM reported event. Even typing direct names of the news outlets that reported it along with the search terms turned up nothing. The day before, they were findable on duck duck until someone pulled the plug on that topic. However, when I then tried AltaVista, I got a string of warnings from Google, saying it was not a safe site and oh my god after accepting I'd be getting my leg chewed off and injected with ebola, and was a total idiot for doing so, I was finally allowed to proceed to AltaVista, which had all the MSM reports on the topic prominently on top.
HEADS UP: DUCK DUCK GO IS A POS NOW. IT IS POWERED BY GOOGLE, AND GETS THE EXACT SAME CENSORSHIP. Google then slanders the hell out of AltaVista which still at least works!
