Fruit Sold at Walmart, Costco and Aldi Being Recalled Due to Listeria
If you've purchased any nectarines, plums, or peaches from Walmart, Costo or Aldi lately, you should know a multi-state recall has been initiated because of a possible listeria contamination, the FDA announced last week.

Fruit sold by Jac. Vandenberg, Inc. of Yonkers, New York that is being recalled includes 1,727 cartons of fresh peaches, 1,207 cartons of fresh nectarines, and 365 cartons of fresh plums.

WAIT! You mean Listerine isn't the cure for that????

Okay, just joking; Listeriosis can actually be pretty severe, especially for those with compromised immune systems. The preferred antibiotic is 500mg of Ampicillin taken 3 times daily in a ten-day course for moderate-pronounced infections.

But -in the good old days- many people probably DID try Listerine! Orignally used to sanitize surgical instruments in ER's, at various times it was also used as a floor cleaner and treatment for STD's before finally settling into it's newly-created market niche as a mouthwash!

Of course, this would NEVER have been a news item if people simply followed basic guidelines and WASHED THEIR PRODUCE THOROUGHLY BEFORE USING IT and the COOKED IT PROPERLY BEFORE EATING. Is it really worth skipping these procedures in favor of two miserable weeks spent in bed feeling like death warmed over?

I think not.
