What would happen if in the USofA DIDN'T have COMPULSORY education?

I worked for a school district for 25 years. As a result, I formed the opinion that a free education should not be mandatory for anyone. When education is treated as a requirement, you have to deal with parents that feel like educators have to put up with their children, no matter how bad they are. Through asinine programs like "No Child Left Behind", slow learners and children with behavioral problems keep their peers from learning at a faster pace.

Education should be a privilege, not a requirement. A child should be required to appreciate the opportunity to learn, instead of forced to participate.

Also, public school educators are shaping your children into flaming liberal socialists. There is no other political outlook tolerated by educators. Educators are not free-thinkers, nor freedom lovers. Rather, they are the ones who espouse school uniforms to make everyone appear to be alike, school mission statements to further socialist ideals, and worst of all, POLITICALLY CORRECT PROPAGANDA.

I don't think there was compulsory education in the mid 1800's and if you see a Civil War documentary and hear the letters written by those rural farmboys you'd have no doubt they were more literate than today's high school graduates.

Compulsory education should be banned.

Something like GLP but way, way worse. And hardly tolerable.
