As I recall, they are a bit less friendly to Kurds than we. This is just big talk for his constituents, OP. Salih knows 1. we will do what we want and 2. ain’t a damn thing he, or anyone else, can or will do about it. I thought we were to respect the will of the people and their elected governments? Iraq says we should get out. Us being the totally righteous actors of democracy should respect that no? |

Quoting: NeD RyeRsON [link to www.nbcnews.com (secure)] "Those forces do not have the right to monitor many things, including watching Iran. We will not allow this,". Excuse Me? Go screw a goat and leave the heavy lifting to those able to handle it. Love that meme!! Yeah Iraq can go screw itself alright You can count on America to do the right thing after exhausting every other alternative." Winston Churchill |

I thought we were to respect the will of the people and their elected governments? Iraq says we should get out. Us being the totally righteous actors of democracy should respect that no? The president of Iraq only has ceremonial powers so what he thinks means nothing, and their parliament has yet to weigh in on the issue. They actually tried to take a vote on it earlier today and, like just about everything else, reached no conclusion and adjourned. Besides all that, though, in the real world, what you’re saying sounds cute and all, but that’s not how it works. No, you give them democracy and they elect Muslim Brotherhood or an Iranian puppet depending on their brand of Islam. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. |

That giant embassy and token military presence we maintain there is the only thing preventing a Saudi client dictatorship in the west, an Iranian client dictatorship in the south, and a Turkish-conquered former Kurdistan in the north, all of which would be at war with each other in a matter of months. Last time we left, it almost happened, and if it hadn’t been for the last prime minister asking for our help, we would have ISIS-stan at war with New Iran right now. I assume you think we should have just left Saddam in power and I wouldn’t disagree with that, but we have strategic interests there now, not to mention trillions of dollars and thousands of lives. We’re never walking away. Last Edited by Revbo™ on 02/04/2019 08:40 PM John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. |
