Sheesh, I thought it was my imagination, or just a cruddy old phone. But here on the South Coast of BC we had an 'odd spell' of weather and my phone now doesn't last out the day. Normally it was good for 2 with low usage, and I barely use it. Started 10-12 days ago. Hmmmm....

We lost both power and phone service from the storm and at first I thought it might be because it was searching for service. So, not knowing when the electric would be back, I turned my phone off to save the charge only to find out it was still draining while off! Went from 50% to 1% overnight! This morning it went from 100% to 80% in the time it took to make coffee and I hadn’t even used it yet. Down to 45% less than 1/2 later. WTF?! And it’s not only my phone that’s doing it.

Well, since you’re thousands of miles away from me, could it have something to do with earth’s magnetic field? Pole flip coming?

Who knows!? But it shouldn't drain while idle. I don't use any energy sucking things like bluetooth. I turn the wifi off before bed but viola...it's down from 90% to 10% overnight. It sits in my office down the hall when I sleep. Maybe I have pixies playing candy crush while I'm asleep or something.

I was just going to mention that.
I was reading that the magnetic field can drain batteries.

We had a storm about a month ago. All of our cell phones stopped working and never came back. We had to switch carriers.

Our cell service was out for 3 days. Never had that happen in a storm before. Something fucky is going on.

How bizarre! I know that if your phone has trouble finding a signal, it can really drain your battery. I wonder if something in the atmosphere is scrambling or blocking wifi or certain wavelengths. Maybe the storm caused some type of electromagnetic disturbance in the atmosphere that's persisting. Maybe the military jets are spraying something? Have you noticed issues with wifi on any devices?

Yes... my S9 curve isn't even a few months old yet and the battery doesn't last a day anymore, even after a full charge..

I've noticed this with other electrical appliances too.. they just "short out" a lot...

It's sounds like the batteries are damaged not the phones. What you're describing is bad batteries. We're the plugged In during the storm? The may have recieved a surge from the storm when it was messing with your electrical grid.

Could the phones have been reset to it's vanilla settings and be searching for Wifi. That could drain your battery quickly...

As of the storm, could it have generated a large enough disturbance like an Electro-Magnetic Field that could have disrupted the cellphone programming...

I don't think that a magnetic field pole shift/fluctuation/collapse would disrupt the capacity of a battery. You would have to have a physical drain, on the battery, or it could be induced like a transformer. Is it possible that the magma, which has nickel and iron, could have induced a negative field. The catalyst could have been the storm, which polarized the air. Then the batteries could have been drained, via induction, to the ground/magma flow...

ANYTHING is possible these days, especially with the overpowered towers and "stingray" devices

And those devices are only what we know about....it would be crucial for "them" to kill our batteries faster and stop all data/comms.

It is possible that the cell tower system is overloaded and your phone is falling back onto an older protocol that drains a lot of juice. Otherwise...

Even with an unrooted phone you should be able to install an app that gives you a raw reading of your battery. I don't mean a percentage, I mean how many mV it is showing when 'charged'. You also have apps that show drain of course, and what is doing it.

Android phones can lost track of their battery stats, and give you funny readings. The system is designed to balance itself out over time and charge cycles - if you have root you can reset this easily but otherwise just drain your battery down quite low and then do a full charge (maybe even with the phone shut off).

The problem with modern cell phones is that you can't turn them off. You can just turn off the screen and it cuts your access to the phone, but the thing is still running and recording. They can access it while is in idle.
All this gadgets are now done this way, not because the designers are stupid. They all work for the same master to spy on you and profit off You, with the help of the spaying technology you bought for them.
Even the new tv's spy on you and the company makes money off you after you bought them.

And about the weird storm, who knows if the interference was done by the storm, or the storm was created by the electromagnetic interference. I bet someone up there knows exactly what it is.

It sounds like the cell towers need repairs and because they are not working properly your phone battery is being drained by having to search for the signal more so then it usually does.

Btw it will use more battery if searching for svc too....

I put mine on airplane mode between calls/texts if im tryin to save battery before i get home or in truck.

Wait until it is your tires deflating as well as your vehicles battery losing charge.
If have a service box outside the home that is hard wired the phones get messed up then knocked out.
My son is getting rid of his Google Chrome book and his latest option he chose as well.
For him to do that would have took alot to change his mind like that.
I do not mess with them and in that do not pay any attention to them or what is reported about them, while he does.

Found the battery usage data on my iPhone and turned off background app refresh on a whole bunch of apps and now it’s back to normal. My husband has an android phone and I need to check his out next. Serious weirdness!

I had figured it might be draining because of searching for service so I had kept it turned off but it was still going down rapidly whenever I turned it on to check for service. Must have been something to do with the damaged tower?
