We have a couple of mountains closed to human recreation right now in NW Montana because even someone WALKING on the slopes can trigger one of these things. It has 300 foot drops down from the road... so scary. Got caught in a rainstorm up there one time, and 50 cars had to turn around and go back to Silverton. Twenty miles in to the pass, nearly to Ouray. Just had to go back. I walked into a Silverton bar and had a shot of whiskey when I got there. No hotel rooms available either. |
