9teen I always got the Haynes Car Repair Manual whenever I got a

new (used) car or motorcycle. I just don't know how I would have got along without one, they have saved me hours of grief and a lot of money over the years. Here's to you Mr Haynes beer2 [link to youtu.be (secure)]

I have owned a few of those before, a used car owners bible I'd say.

Even if you don't work on your own car helps to talk to the mechanic to make them think you know something about your car so they don't rip you off.

me too. i feel the same way, saved me thousands of dollars. easy. every time I repaired it without having to buy a new car, right there is several thousand

they would buy a car and dismantle the whole car and put it back together as they wrote the manual.

i noticed i bought the other brands of manuals, the chilton and it was identical. not sure whaht's going on there, I thought plagarism, copyright laws were a thing

Re: RIP The most important person in car repair history just passed away.
i had 1984 honda and toyota made a factory service manual that was better than the haynes. more expensive. usually used by auto repair dealers.

for some stupid reason they don't want to sell them to the general public.

or at least they stopped making them anywhere near as good, like they sold me one for my saturn, and it was complete shit, it was a joke. hand scribbled diagrams. I couldn't believe this was the official service manual from Saturn

Relied on him and a Chilton back when the kids were in diapers and diy car maintenance was a prerequisite.
