Google Tracks Your Location and Shares It With Police, Even When Your Phone is Off

Does g00gle remember your location from cell phone towers (think g00gle traffic) and reported GPS from the onboard receiver, yes but once you remove your battery there IS NO MORE LIVE TRACKING to be stored in the phone for uploading later. You are offline. Phones nowadays do some really impressive things but not tracking you without a power source.

Can you use passive RFID tech that requires an outside power source to wake up a chip and spit out an ID, yes BUT you have to be ridiculously close to use it. Think car keys/fobs or supermarket tags.

And Louis above is correct, cell tower triangulation works almost as well as GPS on a phone that has a power source.

While inside the IPhone OS I saw a log(file) of GPS locations, it will store locations while the phone is switched off, until they can be transmitted, perused, or used by other programs later when switched on again. GPS(location services) 'off' was selected.

How much does a phone do/remember without the battery? There is a capacitive battery for those little things that they don't want 'off' when the battery's gone.

If you drive a vehicle made after 2000 or so it has GPS in it somewhere. On-Star is one system used. Air bags when deployed send signals. And computer chips store locations at least temporarily so they know.

Sundar Pichai is a slave of Sergey and Larry, they direct him.

My current year SUV w/Onstar has 5 GPS antennas, 4 hidden(duh) one on the roof. In two seconds, 3 antenna cable connectors accessed thru the glovebox allows secure driving w/XMradio. :)
The car's cell antenna has to be disabled to prevent triangulation location thru cell service, I believe Onstar can locate this way as well.

This is the real reason new phones don't allow you to remove your battery.

Still sporting my flip phone from 2008. Battery lasts at least 5 days. It's one of those drop-resistant, dust-resistant, water-resistant phones made for construction workers or similar.

It would be cool to have some of the apps on smart phones - like the maps. But I have a navigator I can take on trips... plus I still remember how to read an actual map ;)

It's a pain in the ass to get the international plan on it while I'm here in Mexico - so that would be a bonus for a smart phone. I have Internet and my laptop though, so I can keep in touch with peeps.

When my flip phone dies I think I'll just go back to a land-line. I have no desire to join the ranks of peeps walking around staring at their "smart" device. No offense meant to those that do!!!

Smart phones are bugged to listen into all your conversations and they also track your every move so if you are going to commit a crime better not have your smart phone on you. That will be hard for all those young criminals who are addicted to their smartphones and see it has another body part. They can't bare to be separated from their smartphone for one second.

That's so true. So many of these young criminals aren't very smart. They wouldn't even think about their phone getting them caught. I guess in that way, it's a good thing.

Most of those who would need to be under wraps are smart enough to know better! If not, well then, survival of the fittest.
