High school to eliminate valedictorian honor over 'mental wellness' concerns

The school will still recognize academic achievers despite the changes. Students with a 4.0 GPA and higher will earn summa cum laude honors, 3.75 to 3.99 will earn magna cum laude, and 3.51 to 3.74 will earn cum laude.

"The recognition system will reward our students for genuine academic success based on their academic accomplishments," said Mason High School Principal Bobby Dodd in a statement. "This will help reduce the overall competitive culture at MHS to allow students to focus on exploring learning opportunities that are of interest to them."

That's 100% true. Charlotte Iserbyt has been saying this for years. She was fired from a Sr position in Reagan's dept of Education for leaking a document that agreed to a merger between the Soviet Union's education system and Americas. The oligarchs have been dumbing down US education for a hundred years and teaching attitudes and not fundamentals (Reading/writing/arithmetic). In communism you train people for jobs and not for abstracts, like how to think. The arts will be done away with and children will be identified for careers when they are very young.

It's called equality of outcome as opposed to equality of opportunity and results in a great dumbing down. Here in Canada the rush to hop on board the fad for all things "indigenous" has resulted in incompetent people put into positions they are not qualified for except for their status number. In one case I know of, a women who was put into a school administrator position without any qualifications whatsoever because it came with a small house next to the school so that her husband, the Chief could move his girlfriend into their house.

I also know a bunch of kids who attended a school (I use the word loosely here) without any formal structure where they were allowed to "explore" whatever interested them with the result that I've never met a group of young people more ill-prepared for the real world. Several of them never learned to read and write and most of them are still living in their parents' basements and have never had a job, not even working at MacDonalds.

Other kids I know who were raised by single mothers, went to traditional schools and got jobs at fast food joints to earn spending money as teenagers own and operate successful businesses today.
