Iran would WASTE a B-52 even if the second the B-52 entered Iran's airspace it decided to abruptly turn back. It would not have time to make that maneuver. The shoot down of a global hawk proves that's precisely what would happen.

It is probably not actually in Iranian airspace. The U.S. claims airspace out to 250 nautical miles, but all other countries only claim 12. There's plenty of room to fly around out there and not go into that 12.

You have to understand one thing. There are dozen of US military bases in Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Afghanistan. They can't even relocate, coordinates are well known. Iran has the technology to target these bases. How would it look on first week of the war when America would count five hundred or more troop casualties?

Easy to move men and equipment out and let them hit some Middle Eastern real estate.
