There is some RUMINT that #Pakistan has increased their alert status along the Line of Control (LOC). It is possible, if this report is accurate, additional soldiers, equipment and CAP patrols will increase. An increase of LOC skirmishes are always possible as well

Yeah...it is amazing how little coverage and traction this is receiving, both in the news media and also on the "to-do" list of global powers (at least outwardly).

We know the situation is tense, but the real question is how tense. What are the odds of this reaching a dangerous point for the larger region and global arena?

The odds today? Not that high, really. But the problem is the tension over there is not only religious in nature, as opposed to political, but the hostilities go back to the end of WW2, and have been at a simmer for the past 70 years. Westerners constantly make the mistake of assigning rational thought to the situation when they think nothing will happen between Pakistan and India. But the lack of rationality on both sides is the biggest threat. India and Pakistan have fought three wars over the Kashmir area since 1947. They will eventually fight a fourth one, which will most likely go nuclear within a short period of time.

They keep walking right up to the brink, staring over the abyss, and then backing away at the last minute. One of these days the abyss is going to swallow them up before they realize what's happened. The question is, how many times can they walk up to the brink before that happens?
