Fukushima: New desalination plant coming to California
I've got family in one of the cities that will get water from the new desalination plant.

[link to www.acwa.com (secure)]

How should I convey to my family there how much danger they're in?

I only know of the following scientific study to show them.

Fukushima Radioactivity Detected Off West Coast
[link to www.whoi.edu (secure)]

I would also share the following videos of the coast of California. If they can't put it together after this, they're hopeless. With that said, what else should I add?

Re: Fukushima: New desalination plant coming to California
The new desalination plant will affect almost all of Orange County. This is a big deal.

The Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) is a wholesale water supplier and resource planning agency that serves all of Orange County through 28 retail water agencies (with the exception of the cities of Anaheim, Fullerton and Santa Ana). Local water supplies meet more than half of Orange County’s total water demand. To meet the remaining demand, MWDOC purchases imported water- from the Colorado River and from the State Water Project in the north- through the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, and distributes this water to its 28 member agencies. These agencies, made up of both city water departments and water districts, provide retail water services to the public.

Anaheim, Fullerton and Santa Ana

I have retired family members in two of those cities who probably wouldn't move even if they knew they were being killed slowly.

Damn lucky!

Disneyland and Angel Stadium of Anaheim lucked out too. chuckle

Here's to Malibu being spared...for now. All of the other coastal cities in California will probably have it coming eventually.

well hopefully they will filter the water. carbon filters remove everything, including radioactive particles. they are expensive to use though.

Is this a case in which they know absolutely nothing about it or one in which you tried to explain it to them but they were not interested?

Because, if it's the latter, let Darwin proceed with his work and all. God gave people free will so they could argue themselves into an early grave.

You made me look that up. There is new technology that can apparently be used to remove tritium. Will it be used in the new desalination plant? I think radiation is being removed from the water in the desalination plant in San Diego, but they haven't removed tritium as far as I know. I seriously doubt that this brand new technology is being used there.

Tritium is an isotope of hydrogen. Water containing tritium has chemical features almost identical to water with ordinary hydrogen, and separating tritium water is difficult.
The research team, comprising professor Tatsuhiko Ihara of Kindai University specializing in inorganic material chemistry, and researchers from Osaka-based Toyo Aluminium K.K. and others, has developed an aluminum filter with extremely tiny holes 5 nanometers or less in diameter each. The filter can stop vapors of tritium water, and the separation rate was "almost 100 percent," according to a team representative.

[link to mainichi.jp (secure)]

I don't care about any of that personally. The most frightening thing is what Michio Kaku calls a "cocktail" of radioactive materials in the video embedded below. Kevin Blanch calls it "Fuktonium." It's a new radioactive element created by Fukushima that hasn't been discovered yet. It's impossible to know if you're filtering something when you don't know what it is.

Anyway, as Kaku says, there's plutonium coming from Fukushima. Since a microscopic particle of plutonium will kill you, do you want to risk your life daily on whether 100% of it is being filtered in your tap water?

ahhh

Do I have to point this out?

This is not meant for drinking water!

"Almost 100%" isn't safe for tap water!

Anyway, at best...

That's only if you trust anything coming out of Japan concerning Fukushima.

You absolutely CAN'T! AT ALL!

We know from this thread that the best technology in the world can't remove 100% of tritium from water. Why are you lying to people?

It's foolishness to me to trust a water filtration system when you know there's plutonium in the water. You know all of the tritium can't be filtered out, and they're not even trying to filter out the tritium at the San Diego desalination plant.
