This American band were likened to the Beatles, in 1966 when they had this semi-hit song, "Lies," which sounds a LOT like a Lennon-McCartney tune, but isn't.

The Knickerbockers were a one hit wonder band that the movie "That Thing You Do!" may have been loosely based on, IMHO.
The band was called "The Oneders," a play on the wonders & perhaps a double meaning, 'one hit wonders.'

There was a phenomenal nostalgic TV show based on American Bandstand when it was still broadcast live from Philadelphia, where it originated in 1952. The teenage dance show aired few times a week & the TV Show was called "American Dreams." It was very well written & acted. This was the scene when the Beatles song, "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" hit #1 in America & all the teenagers then hit the floor to dance & sing along, great moment in the show, among hundreds of others.
