The storm is about to interact the jet, which will allow it to improve its polar outflow. This will likely let Hagibis intensify further before beginning transition as a result of increasing SW shear. |

Abe plans to declare Hagibis a 'severe disaster'!!!p14 oh wow, many homes in Tokyo still unrepaired from last month's typhoon, and soon Hagibis will arrive Slow progress in reconstruction work from a powerful typhoon is forcing many residents of Chiba Prefecture, near Tokyo, to live in unrepaired houses one month after the disaster. Typhoon Faxai wreaked havoc in the prefecture on September 9, leaving wide areas without power or water for days or even weeks. Local authorities have confirmed that the storm damaged more than 34,000 homes. The repairs are being delayed because service providers are flooded with requests. Authorities are providing vacant public apartments for free. They say they will consider additional support measures because the reconstruction work is likely to take a long time. They are much less prepped for tons of rain. If any foreign minister begins to defend to the death a "peace conference," you can be sure his government has already placed its orders for new battleships and aeroplanes. |

Abe plans to declare Hagibis a 'severe disaster'!!!p14 Hagibis has drawn the attention of experts from around the world for its rapid intensification. According to the Meteorological Agency, air pressure at the center of the typhoon had fallen by 77 hectopascals to 915 over the 24-hour period to 6 p.m. Monday. A further dip, to 905 hectopascals, was forecast by Wednesday evening, according to the agency. Meteorologist Robert Speta, an expert on typhoons who now works for the U.S. Navy in Florida, said the storm had gone through an “explosive intensification.” [link to www.japantimes.co.jp (secure)] |
