Quoting: cosmicgypsy I'm kinda-sorta feeling sorry for myself, but mostly I just don't want to have to take off of work....but I won't make it through this Winter, just the little cold front we had last week hurt my knee like hell. I wanted to rip it right off my leg. Please, give me some good words, okay?.... Hopefully it will be for the better. Prayers |

There is a very high probability you will be pain free and have increased mobility. Quoting: Apocalypse Troll You must do the physical therapy after the surgery though, or you will not thrive. Yes, I will do that....heh, your word choice of "thrive" is key for me, right this moment. Thank you. I was just talking on the phone with a friend, they telling me how strong I am, and that I'm a survivor. I told them I've never wanted to stop at just being a survivor, that I want to be thriving, and that I am a thriver....despite all the crap that's happened to me in my life, I can still go at it like a champ. And I count my blessings for my strength. I then asked if they have to cut bone out, they said yes, and I instantly tossed my cookies. My tummy was upset, because I'm upset, and that "visual" I got made me run for the bathroom. It's just being ONE of THOSE DAYS. I'll calm down overnight. Have you done tried all of the natural support like collagen and bone broth? My guess is you have tried it all. Regardless of your choice you make, I hope your pain turns around. Additional things that help some. A TENS unit, Solonpas patch applied over knee, turmeric and glucosamine. |

Additional things that help some. A TENS unit, Solonpas patch applied over knee, turmeric and glucosamine. Bone on bone. Cortisone shots didn't help much. I've had two. PT didn't help, it just irritated my knee. I take kickass supplements already, including collagen. Bone on bone. There's really not a choice, unless I want to be in THIS pain the rest of my life....and I know the Winter cold is going to jack it up, unless something gets done. Just our little blip of a cold front last week had me in fits with my knee. The pain was bad. And youse guyses, I'm going through all of this JUST so I can do cardio exercise again....because heart attack earlier this year. If I'm not able to exercise, my chances of dying from another one is real. I have cut waaay back on smoking....well except for today. My fucking insurance company took almost two fucking months to deny me the gel injections. I really don't have the fucking time for dickin' around here. It's going to be almost a full year from the heart attack for me to be able to do cardio exercise. Fuck my country's medical system. ...and I know we have it better than others, but that's no excuse or "out" for the bullshit one has to go through to get the care needed in this country. Can y'all tell I'm just very angry right now..... I would much rather get the gel injections, even if it is twice a year....but nooooooo, let's just put her through a surgery. It's all I can do not to call the insurance co, and just verbal them to pieces. $45,000 procedure.....my gawd. You never change things by fighting the existing reality. My ortho doc, soon to be my surgeon, has a stellar reputation in town. I do trust him, and he in no way pushed this surgery on me. He just said it's the only thing left to do. The hospital where the surgery is being done is certified or accredited for joint replacements, so that's good news. I will only have to be in the hospital overnight, and that's really good news. Hospitals are no places to rest and recover. I had a bowel resection and a heart attack, and I said "get me outta here NOW!" I was home two days before I was supposed to with those two....10 hrs after the heart attack and stent was put in, I went home. HA! I may toss my cookies again just thinking about it, the hospital. Lawdy....I am now appreciating that the other two surgeries were emergencies....I have to wait two months for this one. God help me, because I'm going to need it. Grrrrrrr. I'm trying to cut back on the f-bombs, I've dropped so many. It gets ugly with me when I'm enraged. Fortunately, I rarely get as angry as I am right now. Sorry about them bombs. I like him, he's not a stuffy doctor, and he has a sense of humor. He told me all the odds about all the things that can go wrong, and they are small. Oh lovey....I had an orthoscopic surgery done on my knee because my meniscus was torn about 20 years ago. My gawd, are you really going to be able to make it four years? That's painful, too. Jeebus.... My poor right knee has just had a time of it this lifetime. I fell down carrying a I couldn't say bleach at that age, it came out bitch. My poor Southern Baptist mother was horrified, she's told me. And of course, everyone asked what happened to my knee, and I said, "I fell on a bitch bottle." My poor mother. Heh, but I took another one of my inner muscle relaxers - I threw the other one up - and it's kicking in. Shoo-whee, I need this relief. I had to do something, my body is running amuck right now. In fact you don't even have to swim if you aren't a strong swimmer, just tread water in the deep end close to a wall so you can take breaks.
