Aeneas was supposed to be from Troy, Asia Minor -- modern-day Turkey.
Turns out old Virgil was right.

Of course, the true author of the Homeric legends [much like Shakespeare's plays] remains a subject of debate even today. Virgil's Aeneid -- traces the founders of Rome to the Trojans. Homer never speaks of Rome as it did not even exist in his day.
