The thoroughly corrupt 'government' became so vile and elitist, that the great cities of the Roman Empire, including Rome herself, were completely abandoned by the populace, and the mighty Roman Empire fell. 'Grass grew in the streets of Rome', and the city was left for dead. There are some important lines to be drawn here regarding our current cultural state-of-affairs... Yes??!!
